[CentOS7] where does cyrus-sasl-sql come from?

Hi folks, I've just realized that the following package is included in centos7 base, but it's not included in stock EL7. Any ideas why this is? Firefox fonts

I recently installed some courier fonts. I'm not sure whether Firefox will use them. They are not showing up on Firefoxes font chooser. Do I need to restart Firefox for them to show up? How do I discover what font Firefox actually uses for something? I've found Inspect Element, but I'm pretty sure Firefox is substituting. How do I discover what was substituted? No matter how good it may be a technical document will always be incomplete and subject to misunderstanding. One needs context to grasp what another is trying to convey. The experience of others provides that. As to the OP. Well, you have to start some place. Even if the request was awkwardly put and apparently presumptive one must consider that English may not be their native tongue; and that social mores and customs respecting forms of address vary considerably by country. I find it best to give people the benefit of the doubt. "power outage"-save / like embedded systems

I would like to setup a small system based on CentOS6 "power outage"-save as possible. The hardware will be switch off by pulling the plug. To accomplishing this goal, I would mounting some fs parts readonly (e.g. /usr) and thinking about tmpfs for volatile parts (e.g. lock, run under var). Additionally "optimize" some vm.dirty_* kernel- and fs/ext4 parameters. /persistent would be used with jffs2 on a CF card. So far the theory. Does anyone have some experience with such type of systems? Any pointer to pitfalls are welcome. -- Thanks LF

Hi, I've got some problem receiving mails from this list. Now and then the mails received from this list have an invalid dkim header. Therefore they are rejected by my MTA. This causes me missing same mails and from time to time I get some mail saying: Your membership in the mailing list CentOS has been disabled due to excessive bounces. What is going wromg here? Can the Mailing List Software be optimized to handle DKIM properly? Thanks Markus Steinborn

CentOS 7 turn off power saving by command line

In CentOS 6 gconftool-2 (command line) is used to enable/disable items. In CentOS 7 I found "settings->power-> blank screen" as something I wish to configure by the command line? How is that accomplished? I brought up gconf-editor and searched for power and blank and found nothing. How can I control this setting from the command line? Thanks Jerry

Layer 2 VPN with OpenSSH on CentOS7 not working!

Hi all. I'm trying to bring an Amazon VM into the LAN by following this guide [0]. However, it appears that OpenSSH on either RHEL7 or CentOS7 is broken as it is not creating tap interface but tun interface. I've tried this on both CentOS5 and CentOS6 and they both work as advertised! Downgrading the OS is not an option! CentOS5/6 gives me: ****************** tap1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN qlen 500 link/ether 9e:9e:44:9e:49:4c brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff CentOS7 gives me: **************** tun1: <POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST,NOARP> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN mode DEFAULT qlen 500 link/none So, what's broken in 7 - or is it that it requires something different? gconftool-2 for 7

on 6 the command: gconftool-2 -t bool --list-type bool --set /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/screensaver/start_screensaver false would stop the screen saver. What is it on 7. The above seems to do nothing. Also The gnome-panel process was running in 6 - it does not seem to be run in 7. How do I hide/remove the top and bottom panel? The "hide" in gconftool-2 for top and bottom done seem to do anything either. What might I be missing? Thanks, Jerry
