I tried to install CentOS 7 on a new system. It works. However, I'm noticing small things: 1. system-config-network-tui is not installed and yum cannot find it. I realized for this -- nmtui What about firewall? I can't seem to understand the replacement from system-config-firewall-tui Jason

We moved from Sendmail to Postfix when RH made Postfix the default for new installs on EL6. For a while it was somewhat confusing. But, after a brief if painful period of adjustment, the ease of maintaining Postfix when compared to the complexity and contortions necessary to get similar things done in Sendmail more than justified the pain of converting. This past year for example we added DKIM and SPF to our outgoing hub and it took virtually no effort to do it. Most of what effort was expended was in discovering just what these two things were and how Postfix was configured to make them work. The actual configuration was trivial. We are still running a Sendmail instance on our external MX and I would not dream of touching it to make a similar change at this point. With Postfix we only required a few direct edits to a couple of well documented text files. With Sendmail we have to deal with m4 macros and milters. Add to that the consideration that for small and medium size enterprises the 'sysadmin' often has many other duties more pertinent to earning income for his/her employer. SO resentment reasonably might be expected from some quarters, I think. That said, I have just started working with CentOS-7 and frankly I do not see what all the brouhaha is all about. The default Gnome desktop seems satisfactory to me. That opinion may change when I try and customize it somewhat but for now, meh. It looks to me like a pale imitation of the OSX desktop with the convenience of the launcher dock removed. The IPTables replacement is not particularly difficult to work with either. I will wait to form an opinion about systemd after I have some experience with it. I am hoping that it cannot be any worse than upstart. For now I have managed to get ZFS built and installed on the test box. This afternoon I will try and get the entire file-system converted to ZFS on a LUKS substrate and see if that works. RedHat does not plan to release a fixed wget for EL5. You can mitigate this vulnerability by adding the following line to the bottom of /etc/wgetrc: retr-symlinks=on Doing so will basically accomplish exactly the same thing that this update does. Peter

Folks I have a ZFS file system. It seems to be scrubbing too often. As I type, it's 5 hours into the process with 36 hours to go, and seems to be doing it several times a week on a slow drive. I cannot find an option to control the frequency; crontab has no references. Any clues? David

Hi, Updating selinux-policy-targeted to 3.7.19-260 fails. The archive seems corrupt. I'm running CentOS 6 (6.5 iirc) on my wife's machine, which I've been updating pretty much every day. Today yum got 425 packages! Somewhere a dam must have broken. Sometimes some of us don't appreciate how much work the developers do.
