Hi there, I've installed C7 and I'm trying to use targetcli and other. Until yesterday all works good. Today I've runned yum update, that has updated glibc. Then I installed targetcli and targetd. After some operation on an md device like mount/umont. After this, during yum install lsof I get: ..... no access to certain WEB sites using CentOS 6.5

HW: Lenovo T520 laptop with MS WIN 7 OR dedicated PC (DELL GX 280) SW: CentOS 6.5 (64-bit) installed using VMware Player on MS WIN 7 host CASE A) -- BRIDGED networking selected CASE B) -- NAT networking OR CentOS 6.5 i(32-bit) nstalled on real HW (DELL OptiPlex GX 280) ___issue____ at hand: The default Firefox ESR browser (17.0.10) does not find many web pages. regardless of the system (virtual - bridged or NAT OR real HW) For example: https://www.google.com/ works When I enter into search field string 'opera browser' https://www.google.com/search?q=opera+browser&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=or… I do get a lot of results back. So far so good. Changing LANG from de_DE to en_US in CentOS 6

Hello, on a Macbook with OSX Yosemite (which prints de_DE.UTF-8 as value of $LANG in Terminal) and VmWare Fusion 7 I have installed CentOS 6.6 minimal. When I ssh to my new VM as root, the $LANG is de_DE.UTF-8 too. I would like it to be en_US.UTF-8 instead. I have grepped /etc and /root for "de_DE", but nothing is found there. Grepping for LANG in /etc gives many results, esp. /etc/sysconfig/i18n contains: LANG="en_US.UTF-8" SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16" So where does the change to de_DE happen and what is the best spot in CentOS 6 to set that to en_US.UTF-8 (I understand that I could set LANG in /root/.bash_profile but am looking for a better place to do that). I can't see some of my onwn e-mails ...

I sometimes receive e-mails I post to this list, like I did the bug I reported about X problems, but other times not, like my first post about that before I reported the bug. That one appeared in gmane, but Evolution never picked it up. And today I've not seen either of my posts but I know it got there because I did see a reply to my post about the flash plugin and it had a snippet of my post init. I've looked at all the seetings I can think of and nothing struck me as suppressing my own. I use gmail and ISTR a discussion recently about some issues with that. Anyone got a clue(bat) for me? I just saw this: https://ics-cert.us-cert.gov/advisories/ICSA-14-353-01 which includes this: " A remote attacker can send a carefully crafted packet that can overflow a stack buffer and potentially allow malicious code to be executed with the privilege level of the ntpd process. All NTP4 releases before 4.2.8 are vulnerable." "This vulnerability is resolved with NTP-stable4.2.8 on December 19, 2014." I guess no one has had time to respond yet. Wonder if I should shut down my external NTP services as a precaution? --Bill

Asymmetric encryption for very large tar file

Hello CentOS list, I have a requirement that I need to use encryption technology to encrypt very large tar file on a daily basis. The tar file is over 250G size and those are data backup. Every night the server generated a 250G data backup and it¹s tar¹ed into one tarball file. I want to encrypt this big tarball file. So far I have tried two technologies with no success. 1) generating RSA 2048 public/private key pair via ³openssl req -x509 -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout private.pem -out public.pem² command and uses the public key to encrypt the big tar file. The encryption command I used is "openssl smime -encrypt -aes256 -in backup.tar -binary -outform DEM -out backup.tar.ssl public.pem². The resulting backup.tar.ssl file is only 2G then encryption process stops there and refuse to do more. Cannot get around 2G. 2) generating GPG public/private key pair via ³gpg ‹gen-key² then encrypt with "gpg -e -u "backup" -r "backup² backup.tar². However, the gpg encryption stops at file size 50G and refuse to do more and the gpg process took over 48 hours. The server is very capable. It¹s 8 CPU Intel 2.33 GHz 16G RAM installing latest RHEL 5.11. Thought CentOS 5 is pretty much compatible in release with RHEL 5. I have searched google and found out a technique that utilizes the symmetric encryption. Then it needs to generate a symmetric key every day and uses public/private key pair to encrypt the symmetric key. However the drawback is that we don¹t know how to manage the symmetric key securely. We can¹t leave the un-encrypted symmetric key there on the server but we have to use the un-encrypted symmetric key for encryption process. Plus we¹ll need to manage the symmetric encryption key, public and private key pair 3 things securely. Has anyone had experience on managing the asymmetric encryption for very large file and what¹s the best practice for that? Thanks. - xinhuan
