System not logging

One of my boxes has stopped logging some of the things it's supposed to. I use rsyslog which used to send named and dhcpd entries to separate log files. Both named and dhcpd are working. I have shut down the DHCPD server and run it in debug mode and the output is produced as expected. I have shut down rsyslog and run that in debug mode and it looks like everything is running, but it's not receiving messages to log. I tried journalctl | grep -Ei 'dhcpd'|tail and I see the log entries for the service starting up, but no entries for DHCP transactoins happening. My rsyslog also receives network messages from my firewall and they are logging as expected. This suggests to me that the problem is that the log entries are either not being generated, or are not being allowed to get to rsyslog. Anyone go any ideas? I've tried the usual first step, and briefly disabled selinux but that made no difference Gary

Centos 7 + PHP7.2 - variables_order not working

I've just moved my site onto a new box and I'm having a real problem with $_REQUEST. The variables_order and request_order values are not being respected. I need the cookies to take the lowest priority, so I put it first in the sequence. However, as the code below shows this is not happening. Changing variables_order and request_order does not make any difference. Anyone got any ideas why? I've not seen this before. Any guidance appreciated. Been running CentoS 6.1 on my stuff in my 1-man office trying to buy time to have some liesure to learn the non inittab/telinit/runlevel stuff as I put up CentOS 8. So, yes I know EOL is upon me but since I've tried to become a user after exiting comp. biz decades ago I no longer stay with the "latest and greatest". Anyway, Have 6.10 up-to-date on a Ryzen 1700 and it run good. Installed the EPEL Nvidia k-mod driver and have been trting the 4.4 series of kernels from EPEL as well. It LOOKs, subjectively, to run much faster than the 2.6.32.xx kernel and, I suspect, will be more compatible with this hardware. Boots and runs non-graphical (runlevel 2) just fine. Problem is when I go to run level five it hangs on certmonger when running the 4.4 kernels. Googled and so form a LONG time agao (10 years maybe?) there had been an issue of hanging at certmonger that was fixed but I never found how it was fixed. Anyone have a cluebat for the clueless how I can get this combination to run? TIA, Bill

Firefox 78 under CentOS 6 -- no sound?

I did a yum update on my CentOS 6 laptop and it upgraded Firefox to 78, and FF stopped seeing my mic and speakers. Is there some magic I need to do? As a short term (?) fix, I downgraded back to Firefox 68. CentOS 7 update to apache configs

Is there a script available that will automatically update the apache configs from CentOS 7 to "pass" the latest "vulnerability scans" by removing the older cyphers like TLSv1.0 protocol: and others that get flagged by vulnerability scans ??? Thanks, Jerry

Network Manager - rotate connection profile

I wasn't sure what to call this in the subject line, but here's my issue. I have an occasional need to switch a few computers from one Internet provider to a different one. Both Internet providers feed into the same network, one at 192.168.0.1 and the other at 192.168.0.254. So to change from one provider to the other I run nmtui to change the gateway and dns server addresses, then deactivate and reactivate the connection and I'm done. It's just takes a few minutes, but I'm wondering if there's a way to automate this a bit so instead of having to run nmtui and change all of those numbers, then deactivate and reactivate the connection, I could just have each configuration saved as a text file or something, and just tell network manager "use this configuration now until further notice." I could, of course, accomplish this using dhcp and change the dhcp server configurations as needed, but I'd prefer to have all of this stuff stored on each local machine like it is now. That way I could even automate it with a cronjob or something if I wanted to get that efficient. -- Can we uninstall 2020 and install it again? This one has a virus. Normally I run Centos 7, but I accidently booted a German Knoppix OS. I'm back to Centos 7, but now my LXterms all have hennebry@Microknoppix on top. WTF? How did that happen? How do I fix it? How do I make it not happen again? What other trouble should I be looking for? I opened a couple LXterms, looked at man pages and ran xrandr as root a few times. Also I ran shutdown a couple times. That's it. I'm rather annoyed at the result. glusterfs 8 rpm missing in Extra for el7

Hello, I noticed that this link https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/Storage reports an available package called centos-release-gluster8 This package is missing in Extra repo for el7. The general package called centos-release-gluster links instead to the latest version of glusterfs7. Could the general rpm be update to include glusterfs8? I see that the repo is already working here: http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?arch=x86_64&release=7&repo=storage-gluster-8 and also here http://buildlogs.centos.org/centos/7/storage/x86_64/gluster-8 So i think, it should be really easy to push the update.
