systemd environment var composed of vars

Is it somehow possible to use composed ENV vars in a systemd unit file? Simple example, env file has ADDRESS=foo PORT=bar LISTEN=${ADDRESS}:${PORT} putting ${ADDRESS}:${PORT} directly in the unit file works, $LISTEN not. Does systemd supports such var substitution? -- Leon

Slow terminal response Centos 7.7 1908

Hey! I have a strange condition in one of the servers that I don't where to start looking. I login to the server via SSH (cant doit any other way) and anything that I type is slow HTTP sessions timeout waiting for screen redraw. So, the server is acting "slow". server is bare metal. no virtual services. no alarms in the disk raid note: server was restarted because of power failure. setting kernel IP boot values

Hi I found this information: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/ht… Specifically: Set the configuration using the ip option on the kernel command line: ip<client-IP-number>:[<server-id>]:<gateway-IP-number>:<netmask>:<client-hostname>:<interface>:{dhcp|dhcp6|auto6|on|any|none|off} dhcp - DHCP configuration dhpc6 - DHCP IPv6 configuration auto6 - automatic IPv6 configuration on, any - any protocol available in the kernel (default) none, off - no autoconfiguration, static network configuration For example: ip=192.168.180.120:192.168.180.100:192.168.180.1:255.255.255.0::enp1s0:off but I am confused. I desire to set IP boot values with DHCP and name of machine say jerry. so I would use ip=::::jerry.domain:eth0:dhcp Is this correct ? Jerry

How to Mirror CentOS8 repository in CentOS7 Server via reposync

Hi I'm running CentOS7 server as ImageServer and local repository server. And i need to mirror CentOS8 repository (http://mirror.centos.org/centos-8/8.1.1911/AppStream/x86_64/os/ ) in my CentOS7 Server. If i mirror CentOS8 repository using repo sync command in CentOS7 it did not properly mirror centos8 repository, due to that when i install package from CentOS8 client machine getting following error. No available modular metadata for modular package 'python3-lldb-8.0.1-1.module_el8.1.0+215+a01033fb.x86_64', it cannot be installed on the system The downloaded packages were saved in cache until the next successful transaction. You can remove cached packages by executing 'dnf clean packages'. Error: No available modular metadata for modular package Can you please suggest proper way to mirror CentOS8 repository in CentOS7 Server? Regards, Suresh PanneerSelvam

Not getting bootloader installed with CentOS 8 + mdraid

I am trying to use a kickstart to install CentOS 8.2 on a server with a pair of drives with Linux software RAID 1. The install completes, but the resulting system will not boot - I get "Booting from Hard drive C:" from the BIOS (Dell in legacy BIOS mode, not UEFI) and it stops. If I then start the installer in rescue mode and run grub2-install on the two drives, it boots okay. If I take out the RAID config and just install on the first drive, it boots fine - it appears to just be an issue with RAID. I tried my kickstart in a KVM VM with two disks, and it works there (I get RAID and a bootloader). Anybody else run into this? Any ideas? I've been installing from kickstarts for ages, including software RAID, but not CentOS 8 with software RAID until now. -- Chris Adams <linux(a)cmadams.net>

[OT] Bacula offsite replication

Hi everyone, I have updated my backup server to CentOS 8.2. It runs bacula performing backup on disks. I would like to replicate backups on another offsite machine. I read about the ability to configure a new storage daemon in the offsite location and create a Migration/Copy Jobs. If I'm not wrong, it replicates only volumes but not replicate the catalog. I will try this. Another way to replicate the volumes on another server is using rsync. What is your suggestion about this topic? Thank you in advance. Alessandro.

virt-manager guest display resize not keep

Hi All, I have CentOS 7 has host and CentOS 8 as guest. I ran the command: virsh edit CentOS8 and changed the vgamem to 65536. I Now get higher resolutions in the guest - I select the 4K resolution, all works. Then when I reboot I am back to 1024x768. Any thoughts on getting the C8 guest to keep its screen resolution ?
