Hello Guys, This is a virtual server hosted by some guys in UK. Please help me out here, i dont seem to get the required sources. Where do i get the sources required to compile dahdi? I have searched to no avail. faster fsck ?

Hi, we have CentOS ftp server (vsftpd) which has a lot of users who are writing and reading a lot of small files from/into its own accounts (and other servers - using samba client - are reading these files and putting them into outside database). Since this server is under heavy load its availability is important. >From time to time we "crash" this server (don't ask why ...) but then fsck is running for over 20-30 minuts. The question is: is there any other _stable_ filesystem (xfs ?, jfs ?) which we can use instead of ext3 which is (quite) immune to crashes and whose fsck is "faster" (by design) then in ext3 ? heads up and fyi folks... CentOS 4 latest... CentOS 5.5: bind config is missing the slave zone definitions

Hi all, I have two near identical CentOS 5.5 machines; both are running named server (DNS). On one using system-config-bind I can easily define a slave zone; on the other, it is a no go: it says the definition is there, etc. but there is no corresponding file in /var/named/chroot/var/named/slaves . Any idea why that would be? What gives? I use the simplest possible zone definitions - forward IN slave, one forwarder. Thanks. Boris.

adding user ldif to ldap

hi list.. I am trying to add an ldif with my users that I have derived from /etc/passwd. for some reason ldapadd is choking on the first entry... I've also tried removing the first one and predictably each one fails in exactly the same way...may I ask how best to correct this? ssh with shared home dir

hey listers! silly quesion: if I generate an RSA key on an NFS shared home directory, then cat >> it into the .ssh/authorized_keys file in the same location, shouldn't I then be able to ssh into each host that shares the NFS home directory without entering a passphrase (assuming the key doesn't have one)? and assuming the permissions on the authorized_keys file belong to the user with mode 600? thanks! tim -- Here's my RSA Public key: gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 5A4873A9 Share and enjoy!!

CentOS 5.x on Geode LX

Greetings all- I'm currently working with CentOS 5.x (various version 5.0 - 5.5) attempting to run it on a system based on the AMD Geode LX CPU. There are known issues with this CPU running Centos 5, specifically those listed here: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2552 The kernel and system run fine on the Geode LX, but the installer detects the CPU as i586. Since there is no i586 kernel package available, the installer dies. I've attempted the workaround here: http://lists.baseurl.org/pipermail/yum-devel/2009-August/005767.html It basically tells anaconda the CPU arch is i686. I extracted the stage2.img, updated the specified files, then recreated the squashfs image. But, it still does not work. Apparently this works on Fedora... necessary/unused rpm packages

Is there a way to identify if an rpm package is unused, or how much it is used? I would like to reduce my load time by removing unused packages in my kickstart, but do not want to cause problems for users on active systems by guessing which ones are not necessary (I load everything with kickstart now). If I could find the packages are not used I could start by excluding them from a load and be fairly certain my users would not be impacted.
