i have 2 servers in a datacenter and each of them has 2 virtual machines one is linux the other is windows of wirtual machines. when i want to transfer my ip addresses between theese servers , for ex: let me say main server 1' guest windows : A main server 1' guest CentOs: B main server 2' guest windows : C main server 1' guest CentOs: D when i handle an ip of any computers ip in network from A or C it directly handles, no matter where the ip routed from cisco router :D but when i want to handle any computers ip in network from B or D it never get the ip from other source :D how this could happen :)

Define HTTP proxy system-wide (Squid and Squidguard) ?

Hi, I'm currently configuring Squid and Squidguard for filtering web access in a public computer room. So far, everything works fine. I know how to configure Firefox to use a proxy, but there's no way to protect that configuration, e. g. a more knowledgeable user might circumvent this configuration. Is there some way to configure an HTTP proxy system-wide? Cheers from the sunny South of France, Niki

Keyboard problems on Centos 5.4

I installed CentOS 5.4on a WMWare Server virtual machine that's running on win7. Everything seems to work fine except I get a shit load of error messages from the console along the lines of when I type on the keyboard: atkbd.c Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0x81 on isa0060/serio0). atkbd.c Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0x81 on isa0060/serio0). *atkbd*.*c*: Use '*setkeycodes* e059 <*keycode*>' to make it known. NB: the code's change and there doesn't seem to be any particular codes Is this because i'm running centos on the VM? Any ideas how i go about actually fixing this? I've had Centos dual booted with winxp on this same hardware previously without any problems. Being unfamilar (having not used Centos much) I don't really have any idea where to start to resolve this.

VMware server 2 - Strange behaviour

Hi everyone, I recently install VMware on a server using PAE kernel everything was great until I use vmware server everytime i'm connecting to the vmware server web interface after few seconds, the client loose server connection (server shows a loading page) I can't access to my VM till I log on the server run /etc/init.d/vmware restart I try to connect to the server again but connection still fails I try /etc/init.d/vmware stop /etc/init.d/vmware start then it respond me : Starting VMware services: Virtual machine monitor [FAIL] Virtual machine communication interface [ OK ] VM communication interface socket family: [FAIL] Virtual ethernet [FAIL] Bridged networking on /dev/vmnet0 [ OK ] I retry /etc/init.d/vmware start VMware Server is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured for the running kernel. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command: /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl. I try /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl but it doesn't work until I reboot I do reboot but connection fails again and I have to do the same thing above. what should I do to make thing working. /All help greatly/ appreciated -- Cordialement, / Greetings, Georghy FUSCO

San boot failure after upgrade to latest

Hello All: Had an issue after upgrading to the latest CentOS kernel from kernel-2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 to kernel-2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 on an IBM HS21 blade with SAN boot. Upgrade went fine, but after rebooting the system was unable to find /boot even though it was mounted. The reboot displayed an error with fsck.ext3 that /dev/mapper/mpath0p1 was not found, which was the /boot volume. I reverted to the old kernel and it booted fine. At first I tried rebuilding the initrd to include the multipath modules, but this had no effect. I ended up just re-labeling all the ext3 filesystems and the changing the /boot line in fstab from the /dev/mapper/mpath0p1 device to LABEL=/boot. This resolved the issue. Any idea why the latest kernel did not see the /boot volume when specified as /dev/mapper/mpath0p1?

bruteforce protection howto

Two pc's: 1 - router 2 - logger Situation: someone tries to bruteforce into a server, and the logger get's a log about it [e.g.: ssh login failed]. What's the best method to ban that ip [what is bruteforcig a server] what was logged on the logger? I need to ban the ip on the router pc. How can i send the bad ip to the router, to ban it? Just run a cronjob, and e.g.: scp the list of ip's from the logger to the router, then ban the ip from the list on the router pc? Or is there any "offical" method for this? I'm just asking for docs/howtos.. :\ to get started.. Thank you!
