X11 on 5.3 not ALWAYS autologin

I am running 5.3 on x86_64. I have it set to auto login X11 by editing the /etc/gdm/custom.conf file. Seems like it does NOT always auto login. Seems like maybe 75% of the time it does but then sometimes it doesnt. How can I find out why it doesnt always login? when it doesnt I dont see anything in dmesg or /var/log/messages. Any thoughts are appreciated. Jerry

OT: Testing and monitoring hardware RAID

Hello everyone, I was hoping to get recommendations on the proper way to test a RAID 1 hardware configuration. The controller is an Adaptec 2200S. I found an article, but not for this controller, that suggests to power off the system, pull one of the drives, boot the OS and power off again. Would this be the way to go? Also any suggestions on what to use to monitor it as well? Can't get smartmontools to work. Thank you and have a nice day. Dianne

Help setting up USB drive

I have my 640GB USB drive connected to a CentOS 5 server and using fdisk, it seems to show a partition of the correct size, /dev/sdd1, but after mounting, the drive shows only 244M size. Does the message received when running fdisk below mean I should reformat this drive, I can't seemed to figure out how to do that with fdisk. Can someone tell me how to reformat, if needed? The drive is empty, I formatted a while back on a Debian machine.... [root@vhost1 ~]# /sbin/fdisk /dev/sdd The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 77825.
