oomath and filter selection

Hi all, in Centos 5.2 I could click on and xls file in thunderbird and it would use oomath to open the file. I could do on the command line "oomath file.xls" and it open the file and show it to me no problem either. now in 5.3 (x86_64) in either case above I get a "filter selection" screen. Most of the selections are for Word not excel and if I choose an excel item my oomath opens with a blank page. Any ideas? Jerry

virt-install nographics not working for hvm guest

I'm trying to set up a fully-virtualised CentOS 3.9 guest under 5.3 using kickstart. This doesn't work at all with a text-only install: virt-install -r 384 -n $host -f $dev -v \ -l $loc \ -x ks=http://$kssrv/centos3.ks \ -m $mac --nographics The installer just sits there and hangs after creating the domain. # virt-install ... Starting install... Creating domain... | 0 B 00:00 # I get better results with a graphical install ( s/--nographics/--vnc/), but the kickstart portion of it doesn't work - the installer stops at the boot prompt. Specifying the kickstart option manually on the boot prompt kicks off a non-interactive install and creates a working guest. So far so good. 1. I presume I'm running into CentOS bug 2975/RH bug 448006, as my workaround is identical. Is there any possible workaround so that I don't need to enter the ks file url at the boot prompt? Are there any alternative boot files/images etc. I could specify? 2. xm console doesn't work # xm create host -c Using config file "./host". Started domain host xenconsole: Could not read tty from store: No such file or directory # I've tried "console=xvc0" on the grub kernel line, no joy. Even after creating the device manually. Any advice?

udev & libvolume packages not updating

Hi all, CentOS 5.2, not yet updated to 5.3. Based on the alert on udev, I attempted to update udev and libvolume packages with the following result. A check of what's currently on the system reveals udev-095-14.19.el5 which I believe to be the affected version. Is it just that it hasn't rolled out to all the mirrors yet? Cannot set user quotas

Hello, I am having some trouble getting quota's to work. When I try to set the quota for a user, it does not show up when I run repquota. I am doing this on a Redhat (RHEL5) machine (I assume it is the same on Centos). Centos 5.3 NetworkManager success story

In the past I have not been able to use NetworkManager. It failed to provide a connection to my WPA-PSK AP (hey don't argue WPA-PSK security with me, I helped right the spec on it, and wrote the paper on the attack on it! It works here, as I use it.). So I have continued to use my set of scripts and hand-coded wpa_supplicant.conf file. So I decided to give NetworkManager another chance given the upgrade and IT WORKS! WOW! Now when I come out of Hibernation, I have my network connection right away; I don't have to restart all sorts of services manually. Unfortunately, I am not at RSA to test it with their AES-8021X setup (my son's wedding monday kind of took precedence over going to a conference ;) ), so I don't know how it would work with that setup... But I am a happier camper right now!

tg3 BCM5755 intermittantly stops working after upgrade to 5.3.

Dear All, I am having a HP xw4400 with following ethernet controller as reported by lspci Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5755 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02) This machine was running CentOS 5.2 without any problem. After updating the machine with yum update on 8 April, after which it is showing to be CentOS 5.3, this machine stops communicating intermittantly and I see the following message correspondingly in /var/log/messages Apr 18 10:30:07 kernel: tg3: eth0: Link is down.
