SATA tape drive on 4.7

I have gotten a hard system lockup several times using star on my system with a Quantum DLT-V4 SATA tape drive. I am including what got recorded in /var/log/messages from the most recent event showing stack trace. to 30 minutes at the time of the crash. I have seen two or three crashes previously all denoting "Bad page state at free_hot_cold_page." This appears to have been reported as a bug in 2.6.12: https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/bugme-new/2005-August/012862.h… It was updated March 10, 2008 as rejected unreproducible. I have seen the problem three times in three days now without trying to reproduce it. Can I get any help on getting a fix? Linus

Disks do not mount at boot

I have a problem with two entries in my /etc/fstab. When I boot the machine, the disks are not mounted. When I give mount -a, all disks are present without an error. Of course I don't want to manually do that after each reboot. What can be the problem? So from the log it looks like the mount is done, but nothing is actually mounted. I'm puzzled. The nfs shares and the /boot drive are mounted correctly. How to add ClamAV to Postfix?

I sent this email to the Rehdat list, but I thought the Centos users might be more inclined to have the command-line solution I am looking for, so I thought I would post it here too: I would like to add anti-virus to my email server. Currently I have Postfix, Dovecot, PHP, and Squirrelmail installed. The users only use Squirrelmail to access mail. I am looking for command-line instructions, since I have limited access to the server itself (I am using SSH). ClamAV seems to be most common linux AV package, so I assume I should be using that. I'm not sure if I should be using Amavisd or MailScanner, or neither. I believe I need one of them to act as the glue that connects Postfix to ClamAV. Apparently none of these packages (Amavisd/MailScanner/ClamAV) are part of RHEL5, so I have to get the RPMS from somewhere else. Is there some standard way of adding AV to Postfix?

help needed with DNS server

Hi all, I'm setting up a DNS server on CentOS 5.2, but can't get it to listen to the outside IP address for DNS queries. There's no firewall installed yet. Form to mail script generators for Linux?

Hi, I am trying to find out if there are any Linux based “form to mail” php script generators available, that would generate the script needed to profess web mail forms such as a “contact us” page or a “mail us” page on a web site. There was one in patricular I was looking at that is windows based, called “Forms To Go”, a commercial package, which from what I have gathered is the most popular in it’s class and apparently it generates secure code. Backporting and Apache 2.0.52 is 4 1/2 years old

http://httpd.apache.org/security/vulnerabilities_20.html states that Apache 2.0.52 is 4 years old and the latest version is 2.0.68. i am no longer a httpd expert, but at least one of the security fixes involves XSS attacks via malformed ftp commands. I also realize that redhat / centos may patch things separately from Apache and that the sysadmin has a great deal to do with how secure things are, but almost 5 years? Does the sysadmin for www.centos.org get paid?

Being Green, Time to make the servers sleep!

Shadies and Mentlemen; I am trying to be green and put our backup servers to sleep during the day and have them wake on LAN and fire back up at night for our nightly backups as "sleep" is a sort of low power usage mode. (At this point I would be curious to know the different levels of sleep, what can I achieve? Does my server just drop into a low power state, or can I stop the hard drives as well?) I am wondering if it is achievable to script the process of putting a server to sleep so I can cron tab its behind! fetchmail SSL protoco; issue

I am using fetchmail to collect mail from some secondary mail accounts, among which is hotmail. So far I have used hotwayd to fetch the mail from hotmail using httpmail. Hotmail now supports pop3 access, so I decided to change fetchnail to fetch the mail directly over pop3. This works, but whatever I try, I get an error message when I run fetchmail: Invalid SSL protocol 'SSLv23' specified, using default (SSLv23). Invalid SSL protocol '' specified, using default (SSLv23). The relevant part of my .fetchmailrc is included below (userids and password changed for privacy reasons :-) poll pop3.live.com port 995 proto pop3 user xxxxx(a)hotmail.com password yyyyyy no keep ssl sslproto ssl23 fetchall to myuserid The error message remains almost the same when I remove the sslproto option, only the second line is printed My mail is correctly fetched however. For gmail I use the same setup, but do not get any errors there. Anybody got this working WITHOUT error messages? What am I doing wrong? Louis
