CENTOS 4.7 or 5.2 32 bits O.S. for ORACLE DB server??

we plan to setup our ORACLE database server (32 bits DB) and use dell r900 server. This server can put up to 128GB RAM. We are thinking use 32 bits CENTOS 4.7 or 5.2. My concern about CENTOS 5.2 is it only support up to 16 GB RAM on 32 bits O.S. Cron daemon with better precision?

Greetings list- I'm on the hunt for a cron scheduler that supports definitions to the second. Obviously, every cron daemon supports minute/hour/etc but I have a special application that requires finer granularity. I know I know... someone will say "The load will be horrendous on your system" or "Why don't you simply schedule your cron every minute and make up the higher precision in your application?". Unfortunately, this will not work. I really need a cron daemon that can schedule to the second. All ideas/thoughts/suggestions/etc welcome. Thank you! exim rpm with DKIM support for CentOS?

I haven't learned a lot about DKIM yet, but I guess I'll need to implement it in the near future, at first for signing outgoing mail. I'm using exim as an MTA. I guess the standard exim 4.63 binary rpm from CentOS repos propably does not have DKIM support yet? Or does it, maybe? Provided the standard binary rpm does not provide this functionality, what would be the most decent way to get this functionality? Does the standard source rpm already include the necessary code, re-building the binary rpm with some additional option wouldn't sound bad. If not going this way, what could be a realiable source for a suitable exim rpm (either source or both the x86 and 86_64 binaries) for use in CentOS? Regards, Timo

IPSEC tunnel for remote internet access

Hello list, I need to provide internet access through a proxy server on a central office to a remote Lan on a branch office (LAN-B). Also there is an internal server that LAN-B machines should reach. Below there is a simple diagram. Right now I have an IPsec VPN tunnel between offices, and LAN-B can acces LAN-A machines without problems. But LAN-B machines can't access the remote proxy or the internal server on a different LAN. Pings from a LAN-B PC to the PROXY server actually reach the proxy but answers get stuck on the VPN-Gateway-A. VPN-Gateway-A says to the proxy server that network LAN-B is unreachable. I am really confused. Both, router and VPN-Gateway-A knows how to reach LAN-B machines. I think that this behavior is due to the fact that VPN tunnel is up only for packets between LAN-A and LAN-B, so packets from the proxy server (on a different LAN) doesn't get routed to the tunnel. And since this, VPN-Gateway-A doesn't know how to reach LAN-B. All routers, proxy and VPN gateways are Centos based PCs. VPN gateways have Centos IPSEC implementation. Maybe IPsec is not appropriate on this case. Maybe openvpn fits better. bind cname for corporate web

Hi, I am using bind 9.6.0. I want to configure cname for corporate web (example.com) When I mention following my company site opens without sub domain. e.g example.com I dont need to mention www.example.com. @ IN A x.x.x.x I have two ISP with radware link proof. Radware device has its own dns e.g abc.com I have web record on link proof e.g www.abc.com (ip x.x.x.1 & y.y.y.1) Now when I am trying to configure following my domain doesn't resolve. @ IN CNAME www.abc.com. OR example.com. IN CNAME www.abc.com. Kindly guide me to create example.com aliased to www.abc.com Thanks & Regards

Centos CSGFS is at this time really outdated compared to current rh updates and fixes, is the centos team still giving support to this version???. Best regards

Hi, I've got a fileserver that runs Centos 5.2. It's been stable otherwise stable for maybe a year or more, and now it's crashed three times since Saturday. The first two times the computer was completely unresponsive, and there was nothing on the console, and nothing in the logs. I was beginning to suspect hardware, (esp. RAM, PSU, or maybe a failed fan) Last night it locked up again, but this time there was something in / var/log/messages. (see below) So far my searches indicate that increasing to 8K kernel stacks would fix this. The server has a couple 3ware SATA RAID cards, and I'm running xfs. The server does nightly disk to disk backups of a few dozen workstations. The server does always seem to crash overnight. If the problem really is in the kernel stack size, it's odd that it just started all of a sudden. I thought I'd post here before I looked into compiling a new kernel with 8K stacks. Apache Config

I am trying to setup moinmoin and my apache virtual host config looks like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.example.net DocumentRoot /<path to doc root> AddHandler cgi-script .cgi Alias /moin_static181/ /usr/local/share/moin/htdocs ScriptAlias / /<path to doc root>/cgi-bin/moin.cgi </VirtualHost> But this breaks every link in moinmoin unless there is something in Alias like: Alias /foo /<path to doc root>/cgi-bin/moin.cgi which then leaves http://www.example.net/ as 404 sicne there is no default doc in the root? How can I avoid this so the wiki is available at the root? Thanks! jlc

In my syslog I get many of these types of errors: ypserv [4818]: refused connect from 127.0.0.1:57124 to procedure ypproc_match [domain.com,passwd.adjunct.byname;-1) Any idea what this error is? TIA

nvidia motherboard with mcp78b chipset

Hi all, I have a new motherboard I am trying to install centos 5.2 x86_64 on. it has the mcp78b chipset. seems like the SATA disk is not detected. tells me no install media found. I tried the install line with "pci=nomsi" that did not help. I tried changing the SATA in the bios to AHCI and that did not help. Any thoughts on something to try? Jerry
