How to select a block in gnome-terminal or in vim

Hi, When I connect to a Cisco router and issue the show ip interface command, the output is similar as follows: Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol Ethernet0/0 192.168.12.1 YES NVRAM up up Serial0/0 unassigned YES NVRAM administratively down down Ethernet0/1 unassigned YES NVRAM administratively down down Loopback0 1.1.1.1 YES NVRAM up up Will anyone please tell me how to select text in block instead of line, so that I can get the IP address on all interface, in gnome-terminal as well as in vim. Obtaining a newer Broadcomm (bcm43xx) driver for CentOS 5

I'm using CentOS 5 (w/all latest updates as of 2008-01-06) on an HP laptop -- in fact, the exact laptop described here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/HP/Pavilion-ze5300_Series Ever since I switched from SHARED to OPEN authentication (and hence from using ndiswrapper to the bcm43xx module, as explained on that wiki page), I've been having packet loss and/or collision on the wireless device, to the point that recently I've needed to plug in to a wired network in order to get yum updates. I'd like to try installing a newer version of the driver, but I'm having a fail on searching for the sources; I don't want to build an entire new kernel. Does anyone have a pointer to those driver sources or better yet to a DKMS or similar package for them?

We have DELL servers with CENTOS 3 and 4 installed. Application is client/server type. Does there has way monitor invidual client (PC) network traffic to server? How many users do you have? One detriment I've found is that much of it's backend relies on Java and requires some serious tuning for installations with a large user base. Video lock up

proftpd question

Hi I am using proftpd in 5.2 When I change the user from /home/userA to /ftp/userA in this file /etc/passwd eg: userA:x:502:502::/ftp/userA:/bin/bash After change this passwd file, I can't logon as ftp but ssh is fine Can you help? Can't yum erase/install an app

I am switching the box that I did the HIPL rpm builds over to running from rpms built directly by the HIPL team (http://infrahip.hiit.fi/hipl/release/1.0.4/) I did the 'make uninstall' and then 'yum install hipl-all', but the hipl-firewall rpm did not install. Seems like I have a mess on my system with the various hipfw files. I 'manually' deleted a bunch of them (perhaps a mistake), and then tried 'yum install hipl-firewall' and it reported that it was installed. So I tried a 'yum erase hipl-firewall' and got two errors: hipfw: unrecognized service error reading information on service hipfw: No such file or directory Then I get a 'Removed: hipl-firewall.i386 0:1.0.4-1' and a 'Complete!'. I then do a 'yum install hipl-firewall' and get that it is installed and there is nothing to do.... Well, it is not installed, but there is something in yum that says it is installed. What to do? man yum does not show any options to force the install. So how do I get around this foobar?

Anyone have a function or script for uploading files from a web browser with a bash script? I know this is possible to do with Perl, I'm wondering if the same is possible using only bash.

xCache install error ($PHP_AUTOCONF?)

Hey Guys I'm trying to install xcache on our web server (php optcode cacher) but I am having the following error. I have download the xcache tar ball, unzipped and when in the unzipped directory attempting to run phpize but it fails with the following error: [root@server1882 xcache-1.2.2]# phpize Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20041225 Zend Module Api No: 20060613 Zend Extension Api No: 220060519 Cannot find autoconf. Please check your autoconf installation and the $PHP_AUTOCONF environment variable is set correctly and then rerun this script. Ok, $PHP_AUTOCONF doesn't exist so I made it in my bash profile and set to it /usr/local/bin where autoconf is installed too. After logging in and out it didn't work although the environment variable had correct exported. I checked online some people have mentioned you need libtool installed aswell but I have that too (and automake before you ask, all three are installed and have symbolic links in /usr/bin to /usr/local/bin) but this still isn't working and I can't work it out. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Thanks for reading listee's! LDAP Authentication to Lotus Domino?

Has anybody done any authentication to Lotus Domino using LDAP? I selected LDAP options in the "authconfig-tui" application, per the documentation here: http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/Deployment_Guide-en-US/s1-ldap-pam.html when I try to query the directory for user information though, I get no results using the ldapsearch command [root@ldapclient ~]# ldapsearch -x uid=crichards # extended LDIF # # LDAPv3 # base <> with scope subtree # filter: uid=crichards # requesting: ALL # # search result search: 2 result: 0 Success # numResponses: 1 I'm not quite sure what I'm missing, as I can manually query the directory for, say, a uid, with the "ldapsearch" command with options specified and it returns the correct info from the directory.
