mysql install

Hi, when i try to install mysql-server it gives me mirror error and also says package does not match the intended download? what is the issue hear. i already have lampp stack .when i try to install zenoss it still says that it need mysql although its included in lampp stack. Thanks

Create Local CentOS 5.1 repo

I am trying to create a local base repo from the DVD on a webserver as I am not able to install with the x64 DVD. I have done this before I recall by placing the DVD contents in the root of an empty webserver, but I have many existing repo's on this current server and so I wanted to maintain the existing hierarchy structure. I tried using the createrepo command and neither that nor copying the DVD into specified dir is working. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks! jlc

Wherefore is FUSE?

Tonight, I tried to roll out fuse on my CentOS 4 production system. (in order to use GlusterFS) I have two identical servers, and one took, the other didn't. How simple could this be? # yum install yum-plugin-priorities # yum install rpmforge-release # yum install fuse dkms-fuse both of these seem to work. Yet I run [root@kepler drivers]# modprobe fuse FATAL: Module fuse not found. Command to get tape capacity status?

I have an Overland tape library connected, via SCSI card, to an out-of-box, full install of C5 install on an old PC. I have a script that uses tar to archive data to tape and mtx to change tapes. What I don't know, if possible, is to obtain the status of how much tape is left in the drive. If I get a write failure, I'd like to know if the tape is bad or has run out of space. I know of bacula, amanda, and other backup methods, but I prefer to use the simplest options possible, mainly because if a hard drive failure occurs, which has happened at the last minute, I can take the original C5 media from CD, install it, and get back up and running in no time. So, any way to inquire remaining tape status and [estimated] capacity? Thanks. Scott

Strange reboots

Hi, I have a CentOS 5.0 running as a web server. # uname -a Linux hostnamehidden.net 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5 #1 SMP Wed Mar 5 11:37:38 EST 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Every 59 minutes (maybe every hour) it reboots without any logs, without any traces and unfortunately with breaking software raid. After reboot dmesg does not have any strange entries. I double-checked crons, any strange services, nothing suspicious. I did "yum update" recently. I went to Datacenter and waited before the monitor but during reboot I did not see anything strange. I guess reboot is cold reboot. I changed all system and cpu fans. Upgraded system powersupply with a more powerful one. Placed server infront of air-conditioner. Do you have any idea? Thanks.

gallery2 under CentOS-5.1

Is there a CentOS RPM for gallery2? I'm thinking of installing gallery2 through the preinstaller if I can't find an RPM. Is this the best way to go? Is anyone happily running gallery2 under CentOS? Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

Updating Dovecot package?

Does anyone know if upstream ever plans on updating the dovecot package to a non RC version or to even one of the RC versions that isn't so insecure, And by insecure, I of course refer to the recent rash of bugs which have been found. Thanks, -Drew

Adding Ethernet alias (why 3 hard links for an ifcfg-eth file?)

I need to add eth0:1 with a new IP address to my C5-based router. Does a design document exist for the ifcfg family of scripts that explains how they're to be used? Before I go digging through the script hierarchy I'm hoping someone can point me to documentation to make the process easier.
