Trixbox is supplying a rather old version of IAXModem, 0.1.14, where current is 0.3 Does anyone know of where a version is available more current than 0.1.14?

non-privaledged reboot ???

Greetings On centos 5, if I ssh in as a regular non-superuser account and go to the sbin dir to issue a reboot command, it wont do it as says you must be superuser If you are on the console logged in as a non-superuser account and do the same thing, it will reboot. Is this a feature, or a bug? - rh

Seeking pointers to info about LVM migration and performance

We have a large MySQL database currently running on a CentOS 3.x server with an external SCSI RAID device. This is currently an ext2 filesystem because it was migrated once previously from an even older RedHat system. We need to add storage capacity to this database and prepare for additional future growth. One of the options under consideration is to move to CentOS 5 and use LVM. Of some concern is that we run some pretty heavy-duty queries against this database in close to real time, so we don't want the switch to scalable storage to have a significant impact on read latency. Consequently I'm looking for sources of information on two topics: - What kind of performance can we expect from an LVM group as compared to mounting the RAID array directly? - What's involved in migrating our filesystem from ext2 to LVM with a minimum of downtime? Thanks in advance for directions.

Virtualization question

I want to use Centos5 as my host os and virtualize a windows server on it. CentOS 5 - Dell Latitude d630 - Vodaphone 3g Card

Hi I may be forced to move from my mac book pro onto a dell laptop, spit, but i sure as heck dont want to have to run windows so.... Does anyone know how easy it is to get CentOS to work with a vodaphone 3g card? I see that it should be possible and a couple of reports of it working under gentoo etc but i wonder if anyone here has had any experience of this at all? thanks

CentOS5: Cannot Print

I have a HP OfficeJet K80xi all-in-one USB printer. The hplip web site tells me to do "rpm -qa hplip" from a virtual console. The result is "hplip-1.6.7-4.1.e15" (driver model installed). The web site table shows any driver later than 0.9.5 should work. When I send a file to the printer from a virtual console (lp filename), the response is "request ID is HPOJK80-7 (1 file(s)" but no printer action. The command lpstat shows only that job id listed. The command lpq response is "HPOJK80 is ready and printing", and lists only two jobs: #7 & a prior submission #5. Nothing has ever printed since I switched to CentOS5. The command "system-config-printer" opens a window "printer configuration - localhost". There are 6 sub-windows. The first, "Settings" has a field titled: "Device URI". What is this supposed to mean? Is it the web address where you can download the latest driver? I can't believe the program checks for the latest every time it runs? There is a second field labeled Make and Model". This appears to be intended for the driver name? The current entry is not the correct name? Where is the driver stored? I obviously am confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Options for desktop?

At work I am building and will be responsible for maintaining 64-bit Centos 5 systems. For desktop use, I'm debating between 32 and 64-bit versions. I know such applications, such as flash for firefox, are first honed for 32-bit systems, then evolve for 64-bit. What other obstacles could I expect to face _if_ I chose 64-bit over 32-bit for the desktop? I'd be installing on an 8 GB dual core high-end Dell desktop. Thanks. Scott

I need to get a new computer and am looking at Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo. I'll be running Centos5. I have a couple of VMware Workstation 6 licenses, is there a way to install and run 64 bit inside an VMware virtual machine? bind issue on centos 5

Hi all, i ma trying to setup bind-chroot on centos 5. its named.comf file is confused to me. I can not get it up and running. How can I fix it? It is very urgent. Can I run bind without chrootjail.if so, What is the pkg I should use? Pls note that this is a primary name server. I updated it to centos 5 from Redhat 9. on Redhat 9, I worked. But, without chroot jail. Some how, I wnat to get it woking. I can not run under chroot jail, Pls tellme to run without chroot jail. URGENT. Help me. -- Thank you Indunil Jayasooriya

But it is your arguing that makes it look like everybody is after you. That is your perception problem, not the mailinglists problem.
