CentOS 5 - Booting halts when loading UHCI

I have CentOS 5 installed on a Compaq Evo. I don't know the exact Evo model. When I first installed it, booted up fine. Now, when it boots, it freezes when it loads the UHCI kernel module. Here's what I see: input: AT Translated set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input0 Creating block device nodes. Loading uhci-hcd.ko module. USB Universal Host Controller Interface driver 3.0 And that's it. The system just hangs there. I'm using kernel 2.6.18-8.1.6.el5xen. I can't remember when I last ran 'yum update', but I know the system did boot at one time without any problems. Centos 4 and LUNs

Hi, How much LUNs does Centos 4 support? we have Dell's with 2 HBA and Multipath working, from what i readed, i can only have 128 LUNs. So with Multipath i can only have 64 devices?

CentOS5 - LSI 1064e - SAS Software RAID

Hi, is there a driver disk available for the LSI 1064e SAS controller, operating in software raid mode? This Controler is installed on the Intel SR1500ALSAS for example, and named here Intel Embedded Software RAID II. I found drivers for RHEL4 and SUSE 10, but not for CentOS5? If I disable SAS Software-RAID in BIOS the system finds /dev/sda and /dev/sba and loads the mptsas drivers. But the installation program does not show the two physical harddrives, only a device-mapper is shown and it seems so that there is a RAID1 build automatically? But if I remove one HDD and try to boot (after installation) the kernel panics. To make a long story short, I have the LSI 1064e, two SAS drives attached and I would like to have a decent RAID1 solution without an additional controller, is that possible? Thanks in advance for any help. --Michael

tripwire / .xauth$$$$ problem on Centos5

Dear All, I'm using Centos5 to run a firewall, and as part of the intrusion detection apparatus, I use tripwire (tripwire-2.4.1.1-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm - as made for fedora core 6, and then tweaked with my own twpol.txt). My problem, is that when I su to root, a .xauth file is created with a random tail name - i.e. /root/.xauthyN4aHS or /root/.xauth1sGdFh and this causes tripwire to trigger. I can stop sshd from X forwarding to prevent .xauth files, but that's a really bad solution. And I can't see any mention of being able to use wildcards in the the tripwire policy file. Potential solutions are: 1) force the .xauth$$$$ file to live in a directory below root, as I can tell tripwire to ignore this path. 2) stop the .xauth files having a random name However I can't get a grip on how to control the creation of the .xauth file: I've tried adding XAUTHORITY=/root/xauth/xauth to /root/bashrc and this does not work, so any ideas are welcome! Hi Folks I'm just installing CentOS 5 and while the install is in progress I went to your site and down loaded the pdf manuals. I have jst opened the installation guide and its a Red Hat 5 manual. As some e-mails ago, I'm trying to play beryl in my laptop. I successfully configured my xorg.conf (thanks to the comunity for the help that allowed me that). The problem: When I boot the laptop without external LCD/CRT, beryl is working fine, but when I boot it with the external, it recognice fine the external LCD and don't want to allow beryl run. I have a Radeon X600. I don't stand fine how I can change that "things" you said. Could you explain a bit how can I change that parameters? What configuration files / programs must I change/run? How? As I said, I have no knowledge about Xorg graphics architecture or any graphics related parameters. I can change any xorg parameter, or any configuration file using your help (or any link that anybody post here). But I think, at this point, my xorg.conf is well configured (thanks to the xorg buys for their help) and must be any other configuration file or perhaps I must think in wait for a new beryl release or a new driver release. I don't know yet. Conclusion: 1) I only can use beryl (with this videocard) in a resolution less than 2048x2048 (adding the 2 screens resolution). 2) In the future, perhaps beryl do the trick.
