Bind problem - rndc key (after update?)

Hi list, here is what happened: today I noticed some resolution's problems on my network. I did a "service named status" and here was the output: # /etc/init.d/named status rndc: connection to remote host closed This may indicate that the remote server is using an older version of the command protocol, this host is not authorized to connect, or the key is invalid. In the named's log, several entries like that: general: error: invalid command from 127.0.0.1#42033: bad auth I am not using the key's authentication on my chrooted bind dns and it was working great so far. Searching on rndc's files in /etc I've found mismatch for the key value in /etc/rndc.conf and /etc/rndc.key. There was also a rndc.key.rpmnew file. After giving the good value for the key entry (I've copied-pasted the value from the .key file), the bind daemon seems to be happy now. My question is how things get broken because I didn't touch the bind's config files for a year or so (only the zone files, sometime) ? --------------- CentOS 4.4 fully updated [root@host etc]# rpm -qa | grep bind ypbind-1.17.2-8 bind-libs-9.2.4-16.EL4 bind-utils-9.2.4-16.EL4 bind-chroot-9.2.4-16.EL4 bind-9.2.4-16.EL4 [root@host etc]# uname -a Linux host 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Oct 6 06:28:26 CDT 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ----------------- Thanks for any input. Upgrading subversion

Hello, I´d like to install subversion system in our server (CentOS-4.4) up2date has the subversion-1.1.4-2, but subversion is already on verson 1.4.2 Perhaps I loose good features if I install subversion-1.1.x, but I prefer to use the version delivered by up2date, of course. 1) What do you suggest? If I try to install subversion-1.4.2 from source it asks for apr and apr-util version 0.9.7 or above but up2date has apr and apr-util version 0.9.4 2) If I upgrade it via RPM could I have some compatibilty breaked? What happened to the RescueCD?

Hey folks - So what happened to the RescueCD ISO?... i'm not finding it under the ...centos/4.4/isos/ dir, as i believe it generally has been previously. At my office, we have a local mirror, and i've always just burned the RescueCD ISO and booted with that. At the prompt i supply "linux askmethod" and then later reference our local mirror to do an install or upgrade. The RescueCD is (or was) particularly convenient, because it's small & quick to download & burn. Is there a simple alternative that i'm overlooking? Thanks *----->

I would like to change background color for xdm, is there any parameter which I should change? I tried to change *Background and xlogin*background in /etc/X11/xdm/Xresources but did not success. --beast

installing 3d desktop centos 4.4

I have a piii 550 with about 256Mb ram with an agp 32Mb video card and Im wanting to install a desktop that has the 3d cube on the screen and use the arrow keys to select wich desktop you want to use and it brings it to the screen. Java JDK on CentOS 4.4

I did not choose Java when I installed CentOS 4.4 and I want to install a JDK to do Java programming. What is the default Java JDK for CentOS 4.4 ? I see under YumEx very little which looks like a Java JDK. Is there one in the distribution ? Is there a way to get Sun's latest JDK 5 installed safely and successfully on CentOS 4.4, perhaps via an RPM for it tailored to CentOS 4.4, or should I just use the one on Sun's web site ? After installing the RPM is there anything else I have to do to get it to work properly in CentOS 4.4 ? Any help is gratefully appreciated.

Problem with SeLinux and syslogd

SSH on port 6010

hi evryone, the command netstat -patn | grep LISTEN shows the next line tcp 0 0 ::1:6010 :::* LISTEN 5195/1 and the command ps ax|grep 5195 shows 5195 ? Ss 0:00 sshd: root@pts/1 i was thinking if this is normal when i connect to the server through ssh, but in another server centos doesn't appear a similar line in the netstat command thanks for any explication/orientation
