Jim and all, I've installed VMWare Server on CentOS 4.2, but I couldn't get the rpm to work properly for some reason. When I installed via tar.gz file, ran the scripts, things just worked. My HW is a dual Intel, 2GB RAM and all SCSI. It's pretty old, so I don't really remember the details... HTH Mark

(simple) Server Monitoring Package like ServerStats

Hi, was wondering if there exists an RPM somewhere to a system monitoring package which I can use to install on a centos server. I'm using serverstats for my other gentoo boxes and it works great(and simple) I can't seem to locate RPMS for serverstats for Centos. Thanks

Centos and Network Attached Storage

Hello, I need to setup a NAS server on Centos. The machine will be: Dual xeon/Dual Opteron 4GB memory 13x 320GB SATA + 1 hotspare 1x 320GB SATA for OS The server can do RAID5,6,or 10. Has anyone installed such a software and can you recommand a specific product? Thank you.

Squid/dansguardian on Centos

Hello, Would anyone have a good set of install instructions for Dansguardian running with Squid? Along with that I am interested in being able to apply the 'google patch' which allows for setting google searches to either safe or very safe mode. I can find a text version of the patch, but have no idea how to install it. Thanks! Robert

CentOS 4 lm_sensors help for intel D945 motherboards

Has anyone succeeded in getting lm_sensors to produce useful output for intel D945-based motherboards? According to the lm_sensors site, I need a newer kernel (2.6.16) to read the ICH7 data. I noticed the i2c patches in the kernel source rpm, but no joy. I'd be okay with building my own modules, but haven't found anyone to provide the kernel module source apart from the kernel tree. yum "transaction check error"

I need help resolving a "transaction check error" when trying to 'yum install gtk2-devel' on a CentOS 4.2 x86_64 system. I have a feeling this is due to having both x86_64 and i386 libs? # yum list installed xorg-x11-libs Installed Packages xorg-x11-libs.x86_64 6.8.2-1.EL.13.20 installed xorg-x11-libs.i386 6.8.2-1.EL.13.20 installed Is there any way around this? Do I need to erase xorg-x11-libs.i386 (and the gobs of packages that depend on it)? CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo

Dear list, I am planning to buy a new server -because the new Core2 Duo based Xeons (5100 series) are considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4 on such a setup. Specifically: CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz Board: Intel S5000 chipset RAID5: 3ware 9550SXU-4LP I have some experience with the 3ware Adapter (new kernel module needed on install) but now nothing about compatibility, extra drivers or other problems related to the relatively new Xeon/S5000 platform and CentOS 4.3/RHEL 4.3. Hi All, Need some information on getting the right storage array to buy for my cluster configuration can anyone help me with this my Setup so far 2 Athlon 2800 Sempron System 1 Wti Network power switch 1 24 Port 10/100 Cat5 switch 2 Adaptec 39160 scsi host adapter pci cards installed in the systems.
