w stopped working after upgrading procps

Hi I have just installed a lot of updates on a CentOS 4 box and w appears to have stopped working -- this machine has 3 or 4 people connected via ssh, yet this is all that is outputted: # w 20:46:32 up 301 days, 3:21, 0 users, load average: 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT "rpmverify procps" returns nothing so the package hasn't been messed with. I don't want to reboot the server -- does any have any suggestions what could be done to get w working again? OT - Samba 3.0.22 Security Update

For those who have the 3.0.21b or 3.0.21c, Samba 3.0.22 was released as a security update (about a week ago). (I just saw someone on the centos list with 3.0.21c so i thought I'd post this announcement for all others.) The downside to getting non-distro updates from upstream is that you are responsible for watching out for security releases. For those with the CentOS version (samba-3.0.10-1.4E.6) it already includes all available errata. Official Announcement from samba.org:- Security Release: Samba 3.0.22 Available for Download This is a security release of Samba. The Samba 3.0.21 release series (including the patch releases a through c) has been discovered to expose the clear text of the server's machine account credentials in the winbind log files when the log level is set to 5 or higher. Details can be found in the online release notes or in the original security announcement for CAN-2006-1059. The Samba 3.0.22 source code can be downloaded now. The GnuPG signature for the uncompressed tarball is also available. If you prefer to download just the diff from 3.0.21c to 3.0.22, the patch file (gpg signature) is also available. Precompiled packages for Fedora Core 4, RedHat 9, all SuSE Linux products, and Solaris are available in the Binary_Packages download area. additional yum repos for 4.3

Hi; On my Fedora Systems [/etc/yum.repos.d] I have the following repos: dag.repo dries.repo fedora-extras.repo fedora.repo fedora-updates.repo freshrpms.repo livna.repo Two questions: 1) Where can I get a .repo file (with centos url's of course) for the baseic stuff like updates and extras. 1b) Can I use redhat repos? 2) What about the other guys, livna, dag, dries, freshrpms. Which one of these is safe to use on a production server in conjunction with the repos used in answer to question 1 above? 2b Are the url's the same? Thank you all. nat, a centos newbie.

SAMBA and Clamav

Dear Friends, When I configure the SMB.CONF to using active clamav with vfs the directory shared don't more access. CentOS 3.6 yum update signiture question

Greetings all - I just downloaded the 3.6 isos, and installed them. I had no problems on the install. When I did a yum -y update to catch everything up, it ran for a while, then I got the following error message: ------- Downloading Packages warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 025e513b Error: Could not find the GPG Key necessary to validate pkg /var/cache/yum/update/packages/netpbm-devel-9.24-11.30.4.i386.rpm Error: You may want to run yum clean or remove the file: /var/cache/yum/update/packages/netpbm-devel-9.24-11.30.4.i386.rpm Error: You may also check that you have the correct GPG keys installed [root@susan root]# ------- I ran yum clean and deleted the file as suggested, with no change. Does this file use a different key than the others? Is there something else I need to download to make this work? YUM Plugins: I seem to be "unplugged"?

Have followed all instructions, googled and read Johnny's November post, went to Duke (not physically, web-spherically, although it's only 45 minutes away),... and still can't see how I have protectbase operational. Installed: [root@wlmlfs08 ~]# yum -C --disablerepo=rpmforge list|grep yum centos-yumconf.noarch 4-4.5 installed yum.noarch 2.4.2-2.centos4 installed yum-plugin-fastestmirror.noarch 0.2.4-3.c4 installed yum-utils.noarch 0.5-1.c4 installed yumex.noarch 0.99.11-1.0.c4 installed Haven't been able to find a protect base python plugin from CentOS, although I clearly recall it being said that CentOS supported it and the fastest mirrors. Need to get it from the Duke plugin web page? Or what did I do wrong? TIA -- Bill
