If your in a business environment most likely you don't have access to port forward to your client the port your client is configured to use. If a residential environment the same as above and/or traffic shaping by your ISP. I'm in a business environment with no port forwarding (I may be the network admin, but I have to live by the same rules I give users) running Azureus Client with torrents active for both i386 and x86_64 I was pulling 100k-200k each today. At home last night I was pulling 320k on my residential DSL (with port forwarding) for the same two torrents. Logwatch "2 200 responses" issue

I have this issue with logwatch that seems to be growing. I've googled this, and other people have posted questions about it here and there, but I don't see any solutions posted. I'm seeing logwatch reporting this issue, or something like it, in a lot of web programming tools I and my friends use. Here's an example, from a Drupal Chat module installed under CentOS 4.2 (in this case): -------- --------------------- httpd Begin ------------------------ A total of 11934 unidentified 'other' records logged with response code(s) GET /chatbox/text?nickname=jtrant&limit=30&lastrefresh=1142823531 HTTP/1.1 with response code(s) 2 200 responses GET /chatbox/nicklist&forcerefresh=9317 HTTP/1.1 with response code(s) 2 200 responses -------- etc. (it continues for all 12000 entries). I've also seen it with htdig, the open source web indexing software, mambo and joomla! (CMS's like Drupal), and some wiki software. I don't know what it is about perl & php-based web forms that generate that funny double 200 (success) http response code, but it seems to be getting very common. One way to fix it may be to edit logwatch's http script. But part of me wonders if that's the wrong approach--maybe it's Drupal's fault for sending back a funny http response--and part of me knows that would be a lot of effort. Has anyone fixed this already? How? Thanks, Matt

yum update problem

I did the yum update. server crash in the middle... I did get it to finally complete but now ssh and httpd are not working correctly. sshd does not accept connections although its running I see no error indications though. cant even ssh localhost. get connection closed. httpd FAILS on boot or service httpd start All I see in ssl_error_log is no RSA or DSA certificate found. NUTS. Jerry

Some of the other RHEL rebuilds take one or two days, while CentOS takes 2 weeks. While i can't say if they have more than a hundred users, their speed in releasing quarterly updates is commendable. partition problems in kickstart

I fought with this for a day, and now am crying for help.... The goal is 5 partitions: boot, notebook suspend, / , /home. and swap. So I have to use LVM. Here are my commands: #System bootloader configuration bootloader --location=mbr #Clear the Master Boot Record zerombr yes #Partition clearing information clearpart --all --initlabel --drives=hda #Disk partitioning information part pv.1 --size 1058 --noformat part /boot --fstype ext3 --size 100 --ondisk=hda part swap --start=4603 --end=4864 part pv.6 --size=0 --grow --ondisk=hda volgroup VolGroup00 --pesize=32768 pv.6 logvol / --fstype ext3 --name=LogVol00 --vgname=VolGroup00 --size=10240 logvol /home --fstype ext3 --name=home --vgname=VolGroup00 --size=25600 --grow ================================================= I get an error of lvm cann't create the volgroup. The partitions were created: hda1 4603 4864 2104515 82 linux swap hda2 * 1 13 104391 83 linux hda3 14 148 1084387+ 83 linux hda4 149 4602 35776755 8e linux LVM Note above that for the suspend partition, part requires I have a fstype and mount, so I am 'dummying them up and will edit the partition table later. Then run lphdisk. I always can just run disk druid to create the partitions if in the end I can't get this working. Well I have learned a lot! Oh, at first I did not have the -asprimary options, but the LVM partition was created as an extended partition and things looked a little strange. An extended partition with a LVM partition within it.

Partitioning advice

I have a new 1u server here. It is a dell 850 with dual 80 gig SATA drives. I intend to software RAID1 the drives. So, after a quick rush through the documentation and modifying the spec file to show version: 1.3.0 and release: centos4.2 I tried to build the subversion package using: > rpmbuild -ba subversion.spec and I got this: > error: Failed build dependencies: > apr-devel >= 0.9.5 is needed by > subversion-1.3.0-centos4.2.i386 apr-util-devel >= 0.9.5 is > needed by subversion-1.3.0-centos4.2.i386 So, since this software is working on my system and since centos seems to backport the essentials I made the leap that apr-0.9.4 was good enough. I went in and altered the spec file again to set the minimum version of apr down to 0.9.5. Now I get: > rpmbuild -ba subversion.spec > ... > configure: Apache Portable Runtime (APR) library configuration > checking for APR... yes > checking APR version... 0.9.4 > wanted regex is 0\.9\.[5-9] or 1\. > configure: error: invalid apr version found > error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.51580 (%prep) So, I was wrong. Is there some easy way to fix this short of installing apr-0.9.5 over 0.9.4? Digest subscriber, direct copies of any replies appreciated. dcs-5300g dlink camera crashes dhcpd

All, I just received my DC-5300G dlink camera. WHen I plugged it into my network and powered on my DHCPD process seg faulted. Mar 22 13:18:04 devcentos64 kernel: dhcpd[1734]: segfault at 000000562ace02ae rip 000000552aad4787 rsp 0000007fbfffe860 error 4 I tried it a second time and it died again. Any ideas??? Using the config tool under windows shows an IP address in my range however I have not been able to configure the device yet. Jerry

various update problems

I was using the http round robin but several packages get header errors. I reverted to my ftp setup and i am getting checksum errors. I have cleaned yum several times now and it cleans properly. futex.. How to remove lots of duplicate packages

This is the second time on a version upgrade that I've been hit with the futex wait issue. Last time I hung with about 5 packages to go, this time it hung with about 50 packages on the clean up. Now I have loads of duplicate packages, any way to search and/or remove them without trying to do it manually?
