howto mount a scsi tape drive?

Hi, after installing centos 4.2 I've noticed that my internal Seagate scsi DAT 72GB tape drive hasn't been recognised in /media or doesn't show up in gnome when putting in a tape. Do I need to edit fstab first or load additional modules in the kernel during startup? regards, Geert

comps.xml

I want to modify the comps.xml . I have a package list of minimal nstallation of centos. So I tried to change the comps.xml with respect to that . In my comps file is having only one group "Base" . while installing with this distribution CD , i am getting an error of comps tree structure missing some critical groups. howto mark bad block with fsck?

Hi, Can anyone point me on howto use fsck to marking the bad block so it won't be use to store a file? I have one hdd with the bad block running on one of my server with this problem. While I rebuild a new server to replace the hdd, I really like to have a temporary solutions for that. Thanks in advances, regards, ijez -- No virus found in this outgoing message. nut rpms for CenOS 4

Hello Everyone, Does anyone know where to grab RPMs for nut? Or, at the very least, a spec file that could be used to build a new one for CentOS 4? I'd much rather use apcupsd, but the UPS in question is only supported via nut. Process run away

Hi, I just found that one of my centos servers was running at 100% cpu and had used up all the memory. I checked system monitor and was not able to find the culprit, I restarted the server and it seems fine now. Does anyone know of a simple way to have the server email me if the cpu load is at max for x amount of time. I am not sure how long it was running like that, I have not checked it for a while. What would you recommend for something like this Thanks Mace

AMD x2 and make

Is there a special command or anything to get a "make" process take advantage of SMP with the AMD x2. I mean when I type make is it dispatching 2 compiles at a time? How do know it is or how do I tell it to take full advantage of the DUAL processor. Thanks, jerry

system-config-bind?

I'm trying to move our bind-8 from a redhat 9 box to a bind-9 on a CentOS-4 box. I'm not as good as I'd like to be in bind, so I thought I'd use the configuration tool. But I can't find it! I've tried yum search system-config-bind, googling, everything I can think of. Is the tool just plain gone? Thanks! Ben

INSTALLING CENTOS SPARC

I'm trying to install CentOS SPARC on a Netra T1, but it boots from disk and i want to know how to enter the bios and set up that boots from cdrom. The other problem i have is that when the Netra T1 is booting it gets stuck when makes a NIS request, and says "Time out for NIS to come up". I know this problem doesn't have relation with CentOS but if somebody has installed CentOS SPARC on a Netra T1 before, i'd appreciate the help. --------------------------------- Relax. Yahoo!
