Broadcom NIC Binding under Centos 4.2

Hello all, I'm having unusual difficulty configuring teaming with Centos 4.2. The 2 NIC's are Broadcom. The HW is HP DL360 and there is no teaming driver for RHEL4 since it comes with package (says HP). Since there is no teaming driver from centos (as far as I know), I tried the Broadcom Driver, configured the team file, but the team just wont come up. A Virtual Interface should be up but only eth0 & eth1 appear. I fell really stupid because with Intel this is pretty straightforward. Any clues, any suggestions, Nassri

I am trying to compile btsco.41 and it is looking for ac_nonexistent.h "yum provides ac_nonexistent.h" does not tell me anything. Where might I find this file??? Thanks jerry

Backup strategy using 2 HDD + 2 drawers

Hi, One of my CentOS 4 server is a repository for backups for other machines. In this server, there is a 3ware RAID card and 2 HDD for the OS + data of this server. I also have 2 drawers (each containing one 200GB hdd), connected to a promise TX2000 card. One disk will remain in the server and one will be taken outside. What would be the best strategy for syncing the hdd when I swap them? Note: I don't want to do hot swap. No problem putting this server down once a week. It is a development server. help with Xlib

I have a remote session via ssh/vncviewer and I'm logged in and working. I have opened a terminal and am trying to start the Fedora Directory Server console (not that this should matter)... and thus I am typing (as root)... ./startconsole -x nologo -u admin -a MYHOSTNAME:PORT# & and it fails to launch and returns the following error... Xlib: connection to "MYHOSTNAME:1.0" refused by server Xlib: no protocol specified Console: can't connect to X11 window server using 'MYHOSTNAME:1.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable and of course it then exits I have done this elsewhere - the difference I think is that I originally installed this system without any X stuff but have since added it and am launching this from a GNOME session (so I know X is working). Clues? Craig

Since you all are still talking about compiling RPM's.... I am trying to get the sybase module loaded into php 5.0.4 from the centosplus repository. I cannot seem to get sybase.so to work at all. I got it to work ok by compiling it statically, however I can't seem to get the .so to work. Pointer to documentation on PCMCIA network cards

A Centos 4.2 workstation install on a notebook with Gnome UI. I have used the system-config-network UI and know a LITTLE bit about ifconfig. ========================================================== How do I 'properly' stop a network card before removing it? Restart it after insertion? Add drivers for: An Orinoco Gold 11b card (the classic. I believe it has the Hermes 2 chips, probably have at least one with the Hermes 1 chips around someplace (I paid $2400 for my first AP and $900 for my first network card years ago)). A DLINK AG660 with the Atheros chipset. A Hawkings card (not with me here in my hotel, can't get model number) with the Broadcom chipset. Of course I did the install on the notebook with a 'classic' 3COM 3CCFE574BT. Got a few different 3COM cards sitting around. But know I have to get wireless working and be able to switch cards.

problem with Vtun, tun devices not appears up

Hi. I have CentOS 4, and I download packets vtun and zlib for RHEL4 from DAG RPM... (rpmfind) I am configure VTUN for a ip tunnel, and when configure vtund, the tun interface not appears up, how i do to the tun device appears up when i do a "ifconfig"? the vtun services appears up, and ok, without errors, and the configuration files, is a knowed configuration from other server that must be replaced Thank any help ps : sorry for my english -- Miguel Angel Amador L. Selfmade ... Samba 3.0.20a on CentOS 4.0 x64

Hi all, has somebody already tried to compile the rpm of the newest samba package on a 64-bit CentOS. I tried to do it with the Fedora spec file and it quit with an error, that some files are not located in the lib64 directory. These required files are located in the lib directory. Any sugesstion how this problem could be fixed in a clean way? How is this problem solved during the CentOS internal package building for x64 packages? 2 SSH questions

I am away from my office for the week. In Sacramento for the IEEE 802.1 interim meeting (for anyone in the neighborhood...). And I am working on SSH with my Centos install(s). 1) For right now I am using my XP drive with Tectia client. I have SSHed into my Centos server using password method and uploaded my public key and such. I see everything there. I think. I then delete all authentication methods but public key and am told that no recognized authentication match. When I add password back into my client, I get the password authentication method. My hunch is there is something I need to do with the SSH server config to access client certificate authentication? What do I need to do, and remember, all I have is a text window into my machine (can su) and I do not have my VI manual with me! (I will go and look for one online). 2) later this evening, I will pop in my Centos drive and then SSH from a Centos client. But of course my keys and such are on my XP drive. I know where Tectia keeps all of its keys, as I have moved them from one XP drive to another. Anyone know what I need to do? I do have a USB drive for the transfer. Or I can upload everything to my Centos server, then download to my Centos client. Thank you for your continued help. Oh, I have been going back into all of my threads here and pulling out notes on what to do to avoid asking something more than once.
