up2date upgrade-to-release question

Hi all, I just wanted to ask if anybody did a # up2date --upgrade-to-release=4.1 on CentOS 3.5 box? I did it and I'm having a bit of problems. The box just dies... at intervals between half a day and a couple of days. Initially I considered it was a hw problem, so I had the tech support check it out, and they just switched the box with another, and put the harddisks back on the new box... Unfortunately the dying problem remaind so that's why I started considering that maybe something other that hw could be the problem. So did anybody on the list do such an upgrade, and was it all 100% ok ? TIA, Alex

This may be a tad O.T., but I have to ask somebody. In compiling WRF model, everything seems to build but at runtime, I get this error message: real.exe: /usr/pgi/linux86-64/6.0/lib/libpthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.3.3' not found (required by /lib64/tls/librt.so.1) There appears to be something missing from the library, but not being smart enough to know what each one provides, nor know how to look at it, I'd sure like some pointers if anyone cares to help. If you need more info, I'd be happy to go offnet with it. Sam -- Snowman

Belkin OmniView SE 4-port has one aggravating attribute: can't switch in less than 1500ms. Pressing the scan button faster than this is ignored, whereas I want to switch NOW. Performance is flawless beyond this. Other (rare) problems come from system software not seeing a mouse, then seeing one. If the mouse isn't seen during boot-up, I must run kudzu manually to get it seen. tar with pipe

CentOS 4.1 X86_64 I am trying to collect all my music files and extract them into a new directory flat, (without the hierarchy) The command works find without the pipe, but do not work with. 1.Why don't the command work after the pipe? 2.How do I remove the hierarchy before extracting? $ tar -cvf music.tar `find ../ -name '*.mp3' -o -name '*.ogg'` | tar -xvf music.tar

gnome-terminal / mutt / chars mixed up

Hi, I have a little problem with characters/lines getting mixed up and I don't know where to look or how to google for a clue. I've a CentOS 4 system on which I use gnome-terminals. When I use mutt (mutt-1.4.1-10) in such a terminal, in some situations it mixes-up the lines in the terminal. It seems in some way it fails to 'refresh' all lines. For example, if I have a line bind index M current-middle in my .muttrc and I press 'M', it happens. Any ideas? I didn't have this prob with CentOS 3, using the same mutt conf. Dag Plone Issue

OK I tried to submit a issue/bug, but I get the same response from both my e-mail accounts: <dag(a)wieers.com>: 212.204.216.221 does not like recipient. Remote host said: 550 5.7.1 <dag(a)wieers.com>... Relaying denied Giving up on 212.204.216.221. I know Dag has been on this list in the past so... BUG: package noarch 2.0.4-0.1.1.el3.dag fails Dag, Your repository for RHEL3 doesn't have Zope which is required for Plone. Should I be looking for this RPM in another repository? Repost ----DPMS or hardware

List, Did not get any response from the first attempt, so thought I'd ask again. I've been bugged by the fact that the dpms function will not work on this machine, and perhaps now I have some clue as to why. Looking at the Xorg.0.log, I see where "Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)" which tells me perhaps this is the reason why it won't turn off the monitor. Also, this line prior to the other. `fonts.dir' not found (or not valid) in "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local/". That part I can maybe fix, but I have no clue what should be in the /dev/apm. The only thing that will happen is the monitor will go into screeensaver mode, or if no saver selected, it will do nothing, not even blank. What should the /dev/apm contain? Where does it pick up the info as to what should be in there, from a probe of the hardware? That said, does the fact that I'm using a custom video driver from ATI make any difference? GFS / CS / DS Questions about install and examples.

Hello I read about the technology and i found all amazing and great challenger, i like to test and install soon---, for this reason i have some question about this. GFS / CS I see the gfs and cs download into http://bender.it.swin.edu.au/centos-3/ and http://mirrors.csol.org/CentOS/3/csgfs/i386/RPMS/ What are the diference in both packages? Anyone has using this technologies? and example of their installation ? link of howto , etc... any conf to share? DS Fedora Directory Server and Redhat Directory Server are the same ? i read only the support of this are the difference. Any know if Fedora build support sync with Active Directory? Any have a build of srpms of DS Fedora for install into Centos 3/4? Any have the "orig" srpms of DS? i search and not found nothing... when redhat release the srpms ? anyone know this ?
