Hi, Running Centos4, and have a problem starting named, it's trying to write the pid to '/var/run/named/named.pid': Permission denied Should'ny it be writing to /var/named/chroot/var/run/named and I see this error; "ignoring config file logging statement due to -g option" Any help appreciated... Gerald

Have install diskette for 3.0, but can't find the .img for 4.0

OK. I am in an emergency crunch. I need that 4.0 install diskette. Like 2 hours ago! Where is it???????? I don't want to have to install 3.0 on this box.

I have found something called: diskboot.img at: http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/centos/4/os/i386/images/ But it is 6Mb large (6411Kb) instead of 1411Kb And the rawreadwrirewin program gets an error on it when run on NT. On Win2000, it makes a diskette that fails to boot.. So really, HELP!!!! I 'just' discovered that my old bootable diskette is for Centos 3.0, and my other CDs are Centos 3.3. ================================================================ OK. I am in an emergency crunch. I need that 4.0 install diskette. Like 2 hours ago! Where is it???????? I don't want to have to install 3.0 on this box. Illegitimi non Carborundum

PCMCIA not working on IBM Thinkpad r40

I am running Centos 4 on a Thinkpad r40 and it does not see any pcmcia cards. I know the socket is good because I had it working with Fedora Core 3. A funny thing though, once I updated my fedora kernel to a certain rev. (don't remember the version) the card socket no longer worked. Going back to an un-upgraded install of Fedora 3 worked. Has anyone seen this problem and worked this out with Centos? Joe

I have one of these (it's in my mirror box). It's okay. It's not stunning, and I lost the array once (due to a bad drive and loose connectors more than the card). It runs under CentOS 3 without special drivers, but Adaptec also has some driver software (not sure whether it's newer or not -- it's ``minimally tested'' according to them). I also have an Adaptec 1210SA (two-port SATA), which is running under Debian with a custom kernel as I couldn't get it working (at all) under CentOS at the time I was building the machine. That card is a complete POS -- forget about hardware RAID, but it works okay with software RAID. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely go with 3Ware cards over the Adaptec cards. What you might save in money isn't worth the hassle. php mysql pronblem with server

Hi, I have a problem installing a minimal server configuration, with php and mysql. Seems like no matter what I try I never get a /usr/lib/php4/mysql.so. /usr/lib/php4 only has; ldap.so I installed on a workstation with "Everything" and I see /usr/lib/php4/ as; domxml.so gd.so imap.so ldap.so mbstring.so mysql.so ncurses.so odbc.so pgsql.so snmp.so xmlrpc.so TIA Gerald
