Where is .xsession-errors

Hi Yesterday I was using OpenOffice Impress, doing many cut/paste operations with images, and without any notice/message/warning the application die. Then I look for ~/.xsession-errors file to see any signal about the problem, but I realized that ~/.xsession-errors is no longer present. This is a new behaviour of X.org ? I'm running CentOS 4 and XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1 (Debian 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 20040928112350 fabbione(a)fabbione.net) Release Date: 15 August 2003 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6 Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.26 i686 [ELF] Build Date: 28 September 2004 Before reporting problems, check http://www.XFree86.Org/ to make sure that you have the latest version. FIX: Where is .xsession-errors

Torrents Updated ( CentOS 3 and CentOS 4 )

If you are presently hosting a seed for CentOS downloads, please update the torrent files. This change effects all torrents ( CentOS 3 and CentOS 4, on all platforms, including CD and DVD iso ). Steps to update the .torrent file : 1) download the new .torrent file for the ISO set that you are hosting on Bit Torrent ( URL's provided ) 2) shut down the BitTorrent Client 3) replace the old .torrent file with the new .torrent 4) restart the BitTorrent Client The Tracker URL for the new torrents should be at http://torrent.centos.org:6969/<torrentname> . After you have run the update, make sure that the URL has changed to this link. You might want to keep in mind that this process does not require you to download the entire ISO Set again. Rid me of this boot GUI

One of these days, RedHat might actually run me off!!!! AAAARGH!!!! Can anyone tell me how to get CentOS 4 to simply boot to the console in text mode? If I wanted a stinkin' GUI I would have installed winders! Now, my KVM and 25 foot cord is just too long to send a GUI signal across the room and I'm missing 50% of the screen.. striped vertically.. at about 1/8th inch spacing. Not really good enough to see what I'm in nor what the crap I'm doing. I do see I guess an Xterm window.. so I guess I can issue commands.. or... maybe I'll have to drag over a derned monitor. Shew!! Hello, I'm looking for a (relatively) simple way to help shape upload connections on my firewall box (CentOS 4 + iptables). Does anyone know of any packages, other than wondershaper, that do this? thanks!

Hi, I need to ask a question about the usuage of these particular packages...do you install the binaries for each or do you use what comes with the OS out of the box??? The reason why I am asking is because I am having problems using the one that comes with the OS. Everything else runs great but I am using CentOS for the first time and I want to make sure that I am not spinning my wheels doing something that I should leave alone. hddtemp package

Just idle curiosity. I've always been fond of the simple hddtemp utility. I tried 'yum install hddtemp' (I have dag in my repos), but it was not found. Google found it on '/pub/dag/dries/packages...'. So I downloaded it, installed (Centos4), and it works just fine. Shew!! Edit /etc/inittab. Change your default runlevel from X11 to Full multiuser mode. (5 to 3). -- Marc
