grub/raid1 on centos4

With Centos3, fedora1/2 I have been able to put /boot on a RAID1 partition and have it boot normally. Unlike earlier versions that used lilo as the default boot loader, these did not make the 2nd drive bootable but at least I was fairly confident that if the first drive failed I could use the install CD in rescue mode to fix up the 2nd one and go on. However, Centos4 won't boot at all with a similar install attempt and running grub-install in rescue mode gives an error about not being able to find the bios drives. Is there a howto somewhere to work around this problem? -- Les Mikesell les(a)futuresource.com

Apache and TCP Wrappers

I'm trying to lock down Apache and SSH by using TCP Wrappers. I put /etc/hosts.allow to be httpd: IP#1 IP#2 127.0.0.1 sshd: IP#1 IP#2 127.0.0.1 and hosts.deny ALL: ALL This seems to work great for ssh, and not at all for httpd. Does anyone know why this would be? thanks

Automatic disk check

You know how if you do an improper shutdown and then boot up, the server prompts you to run a file system check if you press "Y" within 5 seconds? Well, this is great but sometimes not practical in remote access situations when we call our datacenter to say reboot a hang server and they have no monitor or keyboard hooked up to the system. Is there a way to have the system forced to automatically fo the filesystem check every time it boots up, if there's a need for it, ie: WITHOUT hitting "Y"? I couldn't find the answer to this one in docs or FAQs. If I missed it, a simple pointer to the source would be of great help. Thank you, Chris

OpenGroupware.org Tests

After the initial question on this list about OGO and CentOS 4, here's what I've done. I installed CentOS 4 on a qemu image and setup a yum repo pointing to download.opengroupware.org/packages/fedora-core3/releases/ . I did this based on the assumption that FC3 packages work on RHEL4/CentOS4. yum install ogoall With this command, OGO user and database was created (Postgresql was detected and used), database structure was uploaded to pgsql. So far so good, http://localhost/OpenGroupware returns a 404. service httpd restart Same url, Apache Server Internal Error. Ok, what's wrong? system-config-services, the ogoall installation creates 4 new services, enables them as default but DOESN'T start them. Upon starting those 4 services, http://localhost/OpenGroupware worked sucessfully, straight to OGO Administration. I really didn't test it much, but, just by browsing some links on it, OGO seems to be working. Best regards, Pedro

Pedro, I have installed OGO on several different Linux versions as part of an evaulation. I would suggest starting with the Fedora RPMs available at: http://download.opengroupware.org/packages/fedora-core2/releases/ I have not looked at OGO since Dec/Jan, but the directions for installation are perhaps the worst I have ever seen. Hopelessly outdated & supersceded directions were prominenet and current directions buried away. By starting with the Fedora RPM you can be pretty confident you haven't missed something on the dge of the documentation. We ended up going with eGroupWare regards Dave www.HornfordAssociates.com
