C7 and WOL

Hi list, I've encountered a problem with wol. I'm not new to this but this time I found unwanted behaviuor. I'm triyng to wol another c7 machine. When I run ether-wake @mac the system is started. When I shutdown the system after 3 seconds it start again and again and again. To block this wol-loop I must disable wol on uefi or shutdown the switch. I don't know what check. Any suggestions? THanks in advance

gigE -> 100Mb problems

I've got a pair of identical CentOS 6.7 servers, with SuperMicro X8DTE-F motherboards, these have 2 each Intel 82574L ethernet ports. The eth0 ports are plugged in with 10' runs of brand new cat 5e cable to a Cisco Nexxus 9000 switch (provided by the data center). These servers keep coming up at 100baseT rather than gigE. I've swapped ports and cables with a different server, that server gets gigE but these supermicro's are stuck at 100baseT regardless of the port or cableused. 'ethtool eth0' says its gigE, but 'mii-tool -v eth0' says its 100baseT and doesn't even list gigE as an option, and the cisco switches see it as 100baseT too. anyone else run into anything like this before? -- john r pierce, recycling bits in santa cruz

Flash player beta

Has anyone tried the new flash player beta for Linux? http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html I can't get it to work on CentOS 6.8, ff 45.3.0-1, all x86_64. ff's pluginreg.dat shows the plugin is [INVALID], which is often a sign of bitness-mismatch, but that's not the case here. $ tail -n 3 pluginreg.dat [INVALID] /usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so:$ 1474541270000:$ $ file /usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped $ strings /usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so | grep FlashPlayer_23 FlashPlayer_23_0_0_179_FlashPlayer $ rpm -q firefox firefox-45.3.0-1.el6.centos.x86_64 $ I have it working on a different Linux system, not CentOS, with ff 48.0.1.

Need help to Build entire CentOS distro

Hi I am aware of steps to build kernel and individual rpms 1. git clone https://git.centos.org/git/rpms/kernel 2. cd kernel 3. git checkout c7 4. get_sources.sh You can get this script from below. git clone https://git.centos.org/git/centos-git-common.git cp centos-git-common/get_sources.sh to kernel folder. 5. git checkout c7 But I want to build entire CentOS distro.Please let me know the build procedure? Unable to install extras "centos-release-scl" "epel-release"

I have CentOS7 32-bit x86 AltArch in a VM. Following advice I found on Google, I tried stuff like "sudo yum install centos-release-scl" and "sudo yum install epel-release". They came back with... No package centos-release-scl available. No package epel-release available. What am I missing? -- Walter Dnes <waltdnes(a)waltdnes.org>

Virtualbox image

How do you make a Virtualbox image of C7 so that when you EXPORT that image and someone imports it that the values in /etc/fstab will be OK. Example: UUID=13813d49-15b7-48ed-ab0d-da52aa3a9078 / xfs defaults 0 0 UUID=7f25297f-170c-4aee-ad4f-7ccc5867ed25 /home xfs defaults 0 0 /dev/mapper/centos-swap swap swap defaults 0 0 Then the exported, imported image boots its still referencing the first UUID there and it cannot find it so it does not boot. How can I change this so my image runs, and then when I export it and someone imports it that their image runs. ??? Thanks, Jerry

CentOS ISO contents

On the download page https://wiki.centos.org/Download it lists: DVD, Minimal, Everything, LiveGNOME, LiveKDE. Where can I find the lists of packages contained in each one without downloading and extracting them? Is there a repo with the scripts that make them maybe?
