CENTOS 7.2.1511 Multipath and boot from SAN issue

Hi all, I'm running a Centos 7.2.1511 freshly installed on a SAN device. Everything is fine on the SAN side, but I have an issue with multipath or udev or systemd, I'm not sure. I when I boot my machine with the multipathd service enabled at boot, boot fails beacause some partitions on the multipathed device are missing from /dev. >From the boot rescue shell, if I do a fdisk -l /dev/mapper/mpatha, I see 8 partitions, if I do a ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/ I see only 6 devices, so two devices are missing. I have to run kpartx -a /dev/mapper/mpatha manually in order to reread the partition table and recreate the 2 missing device. Only after that I'm able to boot correctly. Any idea of te root cause of this issue ? device-mapper-multipath is 0.4.9-85.el7_2.4.x86_64 Thanks for your time.

Kernel panic on 6.8 release with kernel-2.6.32-642.el6.x86_64

Hi all, Just tested the new CentOS 6.8 release on a few VMs and a physical box and got a kernel panic. Is it just me, or anybody else as well? CentOS 6 spontaneous reboots

Hello everyone - My CentOS 6.8 server has been rebooting itself every 2 to 4 hours for the last several days. I do not know where to look for logs that might give a clue what the problem is. There are no unusual entries in /var/log/messages. I looked over other log files in /var/log and found nothing suggestive. Where else can I look? By luck I saw the beginning of a reboot on the server console. Normally I have other systems up on the KVM switch. It appears to have dumped core. I don't know where to look for the core dump files. They are not in /root. The problem started while the server was still 6.7. It had almost 290 days of uptime when the problem started. I have tried the following, none of which made any difference. I ran the upgrade to 6.8. I tried stopping non-essential services two at a time. I ran MemTest 86+. No memory errors were found. I turned off swap. I unplugged the USB hard drive that I use to hold daily and weekly backups. It was being recognized as /dev/sda for some reason. Lm_sensors shows the processor running between 45 and 50C. Hddtemp shows the hard drives running between 35 and 40C. LM_Sensors does not produce valid data on fan speed, but a visual check shows all fans running normally and no build-up of dust. The system is behind a big UPS that runs several other systems. The UPS log file does not record any power failures and none of the other systems are rebooting at random. What else can I look at? grub (?) issue on Optiplex 780 A15, 6.8 upgrade

Most of the upgrades to CentOS 6.8 have gone smoothly. Thanks, as always, for all the work that goes into making it so easy to upgrade. On a few machines, however, all of them curiously: Dell Inc. OptiPlex 780 /0C27VV, BIOS A15 08/06/2013 There is something wrong with their interaction with grub (?). I noticed this after adding '3' to the module line to get it to runlevel 3, but the machine came up at runlevel 5 anyway. These machines are not RAIDed in any way and I'm confident that I didn't see this problem when I upgraded to 6.7. If I reduce the length of the module line, it just scribbles a bit further back, i.e. "rdblacklist=nouveau1(Mirror)" Any advice appreciated. Cheers, Zube

Hi Jonathan Billings, the `age` can't apply to 'r', only would apply to 'd', 'D', 'x', 'X', etc "The age field only applies to lines starting with |d|, |D|, |v|, |q|, |Q|, |C|, |x| and |X|. If omitted or set to "|-|", no automatic clean-up is done." so, there have good idea if I only want to delete the specific files not all files in that dir? thx. so, there no method to delete special files that below a directory? such as in the directory [root@chenqiang]# tree . ├── test_10d └── test_20d 0 directories, 2 files [root@chenqiang]# ll total 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4 5月 20 19:14 test_10d -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4 5月 10 19:15 test_20d So, I want to delete file test_20d, keep test_10d, how to do that? thx. Unable to boot CentOS 6 - Segmentation Erorr

Hi all, I had an issue this morning with one of my virtual machines. It wouldn't boot (into any runlevel), nor could I chroot into the root partition using a rescue disk. Unfortunately I didn't grab a screenshot, however the error(s) when booting were: /pre-pivot/50selinux-loadpolicy.sh: 14 <other messages> init: readahead main process (425) killed by SEGV signal init: readahead-col lector main process (421) killed by SEGV signal init: rcS pre-start process (425) killed by SEGV signal init: Error while reading from descriptor: Bad file descriptor init: readahead-col lector post-stop process (424) killed by SEGV signal init: rcS post-stop process (427) killed by SEGV signal init: readahead-disable-services main process (428) killed by SEGV signal When using a rescue CD and chrooting into the root partition, I would get : Segmentation Fault: Core Dumped In the end, the fix was to boot into a rescue CD with networking, and SCP the entire contents of /bin and /sbin from another (working) server to the broken installation. This finally allowed CentOS 6 to boot correctly. So I'm left to assume some of the files in /bin *or */sbin were corrupt. My question is, does anyone have any ideas on how this might have happened? I did do a quick memory test using the rescue CD (it didn't complete) and there weren't any errors. The virtual machine is running on VMWare with 3 other VMs, which all seem fine. There wasn't any unexpected power loss either. Thanks.

CentOS 6.8 Apache-2.2.15-53 re-write question

I was wondering if somebody could help me with an Apache re-write rule. Apparently CentOS 6.8 is running apache-2.2.15-53. I am trying to redirect all pages except for two pages. The apache rewrite directives in the httpd config are: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^/test/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^/my-folder/ RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L] These commands should cause all requests to get re-directed to www.newdomain.com except for those with a /test or /my-folder on the end of the URL. However when I place these commands into the the httpd config apache spits out this error message: Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 31 of /etc/httpd/conf.d/olddomain.conf: RewriteCond: bad argument line '%{REQUEST_URI}!^/test/ I have of course renamed the real config parameters. Can somebody tell me if these directives only work in apache-2.4 and if so how do I do the same thing in apache-2.2? If these directives should work in apache-2.2 is this an apache problem?
