Hi,
I'd like to use CentOS in my machines but I'd like
to login using the
same user/pass. Is it possible to configure
KDM/GDM/whatever to check
the user/password in my local samba.
I would not want to create and mantain users in
sync with a central
passwd/shadow.
Thanks. _______________________________________________
The way I do this is by using openldap and smpldap tools with my samba ... and setting my linux machines up to use ldap for their logins to (via /etc/nsswitch.conf)

hello Johnny,
Going OT with this, but got to ask the question. How hard was it to setup the samba with openldap, because i want to change my samba pdc to use that but was afraid of having a lot of troubles. I was wondering do you have a doc on your site that shows this, i have not been on your site for a while so most likely the second question would be answered. :-)
thanks for all your help.
I don't have a guide, however I did use this to setup our configuration:
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/
(the 500 user office section has openldap)
Thanks, Johnny Hughes
