Hi,
I'd like to use CentOS in my machines but I'd like to login using the same user/pass. Is it possible to configure KDM/GDM/whatever to check the user/password in my local samba.
I would not want to create and mantain users in sync with a central passwd/shadow.
Thanks.

The way I do this is by using openldap and smpldap tools with my samba ... and setting my linux machines up to use ldap for their logins to (via /etc/nsswitch.conf)

hello Johnny,
Going OT with this, but got to ask the question. How hard was it to setup the samba with openldap, because i want to change my samba pdc to use that but was afraid of having a lot of troubles. I was wondering do you have a doc on your site that shows this, i have not been on your site for a while so most likely the second question would be answered. :-)
thanks for all your help.
Steven

I don't have a guide, however I did use this to setup our configuration:
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/
(the 500 user office section has openldap)
Thanks, Johnny Hughes

http://www.unav.es/cti/ldap-smb/smb-ldap-3-howto.html also has some good points.

a) It works fine here -- <> can not belong to any URL, that's why they are used to delimit URLs when communicating via means of text. "http://example.com/, that's where it is at" <- now does the "," belong to the URL or to the text?
b) It's not in spanish.

As "<" and ">" aren't allowed in links, I don't see what the problem is.
RFC 1738:
The characters "<" and ">" are unsafe because they are used as the delimiters around URLs in free text;
Just being an RFC conformist.

the problem seems to be either that his mail client is not correctly parsing which characters are part of the URL and which are not, or maybe his web browser is screwing up somewhere. i had no problem clicking the link and having it display correctly.
