Has anyone with an nvidia video card had issues with CentOS 5 so far?
I've been holding off on installing 5 at home because of the trouble I've been having with my video here at work, but here I have that lovely ATI card and there I have a geFORCE 7100gs and am, so far, successfully using the nvidia driver with CentOS 4.4 without significant problems.
Just wondering....

Does it help you if I say that I have no troubles whatsoever with the proprietary nvidia driver and a 6800 card (or 6600, cannot check at moment)?

Yes, thanks.

I have a GeForce 7300 GT, nvidia driver 9755 and CentOS 5.0 x86, and is going fine.

It just occurred to me that I was looking for feedback on x86_64 systems, but keep 'em coming!
:-)
I'm hoping to have some feedback for this in the next day or two. Just built up a new system, Intel 945 MB, BFG 6800 PCIe16 graphics on Centos 5.
This will be one of the very few drivers I've built and I did attempt it yesterday but it complained about not having kernel.h available. I did install a matching kernel-devel rpm with yum but it didn't like that for some reason.
Any idea what I did wrong or what I didn't do?

we're very happy with our HP DL585 servers, running several of them in RHEL x86_64 with no problems. I dunno if this is the sort of server you had in mind, its a 4 socket Opteron 800 series, the ones in my lab are 8GB ram, 4 x 2.4Ghz, with fiberchannel external storage, and are used for Oracle database and vmware.

Looking specifically for CentOS 5.0 x86_64 installations with nvidia video cards, GeForce 7100sg especially....

I've just installed Centos 5 on my x86_64 desktop with an nvidia Quadro NVS 280 PCI card and it works perfectly out of the box, without having to recompile the nvidia driver. I'm using the stock nv driver that came with Centos 5. For CentOS 4, I had to recompile the driver. Not anymore. I'll update whether I see any problems down the road but seems ok so far.
If I check video card information in Display Settings, it says nv model is for GeForce, nForce, and QUADRO cards. nv never used to work for me for CentOS 4 so don't take this to mean it'll necessarily work with your GeForce card.
