First look at this; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punctuation
Then if all you want is a file/print server, it is fairly simple to set up.
Look for the samba howto to get a basic idea of what you want to accomplish.

Then I will forgive your top-posting. I can't say that others will, though.

It's about as difficult as basic grammer and punctuation. Linux is not hard to install, nor is samba difficult to configure. I would highly recommend some research on your part though.

Generally, my attitude is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
You have a machine which fulfills its purpose in life. Why do you want to change?
Linux, in all its variations, takes more admin time than W98.

Yes but W98 is hardly suitable for a server. :-)
He said it's doing what he wants as it is. How can you know better than him whether it fulfills its function?

you may want to look at a "turnkey" file server solution, such as OpenFiler:
this particular project is based on Linux, but is designed specifically to be an easy-to-use file server, rather than a general- purpose machine. you may be able to use the built-in printing system to add print server capabilities to an OpenFiler box; i haven't tried to do so, so i can't tell you for sure.

If the system you are installing it to can read "reliably" from the RW disks, then it will work. I have several older machines that don't work well with CD/RW's and some that do.
The computer gods must not like me today now I downlod the right one burned it to a disk and no the computer is refusing to boot of cd I think I know why but don;t know the cure. Can you install it to the hard drive in 1 computer but run on a diffreant one this is what I think is up I have 3 hard drives on this computer if when it boots up if I dont go into cmos open up the hard drive thing then save and close it will only regnie one hard all the jumpers are set right no clue one thing I am wondring it has 2 diffrent spots on the mobo and I run the cd and the boot hard drive into one and the other two into the other one is that wrong or right Dave fales matthew_17_20@msn.com moving mountains with mustard seeds
