I have a nice new 965 chipset mobo with core 2 duo cpu. I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with this chipset and CPU with 4.4 ?
Does the jmicron sata/pata interface work ?
Are both cores recongnized with the right kernel ?
Does EIST work ?
Or should I wait for Centos 5 ?
Cheers,
Brian.

All I can say is that you will have to install smp version of the kernel for duo core working.
Also you can try the Centos LiveCD..

if you do, please post the results. I can't burn a 700mb disk but will order the disks if it works.
I thought the jmicron bug needed the 2.6.18 kernel so I did Fc6 which I really didn't want (and can't get my nic to work) but...

I have a couple of boards with jmicron stuff in ahci mode, and they are working fine with 4.4's latest kernel. The last comment on the thread seems to indicate that as well.

that would mean I couldn't hook up a ide drive right?
I guess I could get a usb drive and get data from there to the sata disk.

what version did you try to install and what problems did you face ?
Does the jmicron sata/pata interface work ?
that's mostly ahci, works fine for me.

did you have to change anything in bios?
Do you happen to know the driver for your nic card.
I've tried rt8111 and 8139too (different card) under fc6 without luck. I wanted centos originally actually but didn't think the jmicron would work and need to pull data off a pata drive once it is up.

The r1000 driver from realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&...

The jmicron controller works fine with last centos kernel. The only issue is the installation process if it must be done from a dvd drive on that controller. Though it's easy to workaround too (add "all-generic-ide" kernel boot parameter during installation)
