Anyone know if you'll be able to simply upgrade from the beta of centos5 to the stable release?
thanks, -Drew

How could we possibly know that now :P
RHEL5 is not even created yet
(nor is CentOS-5 beta {completely} or CentOS-5) ...
---------------------- It is one of our goals to make it be ... if possible ... upgradable.
If the upstream guys roll a package in beta back to an older version in stable (it happens all the time) ... then it won't be AUTOMATICALLY upgradeable, as you would need to manually handle that {as one example}.
Thanks, Johnny Hughes
Has there been any movement in the idea of adding support for the current intel processors/chipsets to centos4?

I assume you mean "recent intel desktop chipsets" since both processors and server chipsets work just fine on centos-4.4.
/Peter (who runs 4.4 on, among other things, Intel Xeon 51xx (Woodcrest, core2), 53xx, ...)
S5000 doesn't work at all with Centos 4.
At least not with the intel boards themselves.
S3000 works fine, 965/975 doesn't work at all either.

Drew, Centos 4.4 works on 965 (I'm talking about Intel DG965OT). Kernel options are "all-generic-ide pci=nommconf". Set sata controller to AHCI mode in BIOS. Onboard network card is not recognized at all. So mobo works, but just buy another board, at least for now. David
