Does anybody use FreeNX on CentOS? Is there any rpm form CentOS 4.1?

Yes ... it is in the extras repo:

http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/extras

The command:

yum install nx freenx

(if the extras repo is enabled) will install the server on a CentOS machine.

You must download the free client from

http://www.nomachine.com/download.php

Thanks for mail Johnny. I just updated (yum update) my FreeNX server, restarted - nxserver, sshd and finally system - and still "nxserver --status" appears as a 1.4.0 version. On my second CentOS box I made 1/2 hour ago fresh install of FreeNX server and it's the same.

Strange but true.

You are not doing anything wrong ... the output of that command provides this for me:

NXSERVER - Version 1.4.0-44 OS (GPL)

but, the package that provides the the file nxserver is freenx and not nx.

After I got rid of that in my bash_profile it worked fine.

Try editing the certificate file on the server (/var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key)... and copying the entire key text, then pasting it into the window that clicking the "Key..." button on the "Client Configuration form" in the Server Section opens up.

Works! Both 1.5.0 nxclients: Linux and Windows.
