I have a 1GB iRiver IFP-799T I'm fairly happy with. It has both USB mass storage and "manager" firmware options. The manager firmware requires a special library (libifp, found in Fedora Extras), but is more capable than the USB mass storage firmware. And it also plays Vorbis.
