i (and others) have missed messages on centos-devel as well. did other people not see the 4.7 announcement message? i'm wondering if the centos list server is having some kind of issue.
I have seen this in Centos-Announce mailing list...

The announcement was received here at 1200 UDT on 9/13. More noticeable, though, was the disappearance of the chorus of complaining about the *volunteer* effort not being fast enough to please them.

Perhaps they're so choked up that mere words are inadequate to describe their gratitude. ;-)

I didn't see one either. Maybe it wasn't announced yet.

Maybe it was only announced via centos-announce, and not to the general CentOS list?

The last CentOS 4 announcement I have is from July 24th. I got CentOS 5 announcements today. Checking if the 4 announcements got turned off somehow.
Here it is: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2008-September/064540.html
Scroll down to message 5.

So I retract my "maybe it wasn't announced. But not my "I didn't get it".
Nothing in my mail logs either except the announcement on Aug. 30 and the Announcements (8) on the 15th.

Which mail address? The one you use here didn't get any mails on sunday.
Ralph
I got 8 on Monday, and 2 on the 30th of August, and a few scattered before that. I am just starting to think that having the filters down to 2 arches just filtered the general announcement of the release.
No big deal, I saw the traffic from others after their upgrades, so technically I got a 2nd hand announcement.

It was - in centos-announce. If you two have subscribed to that: Did you set filters for the announcement list in mailman? Like "give me only 5 x86_64 and 3 i386"? That tends to filter out stuff in centos-announce if you don't set nonmatching messages to be delivered (meaning not matching *any* of the defined filters.).
I am not aware of any issues with the list server (the last missing mails I hunted for *had* been delivered).
Cheers,
Ralph

+1 And I have no filters and do get all the other anounce stuff. FWIW, I never did get the 4.6 either.

Are you sure that you have *no* filters in place at http://lists.centos.org/mailman/options/centos-announce? Do you really get *every* announcement, even for CentOS 2.1 or CentOS 3 S/390?
Cheers,
Ralph

Of course, one can not prove a negative. I can only say that I do normally see announcements for CentOS 2, 3, 4, 5 and all architectures as they become available (presuming I've not missed any and there are no delays). Since I am not pressed for time by daily work requirements, I figure the potential learning from watching them all is worth the effort.
However, another post implies a possible oversight on my part. He mentions entry # 5 in an announcement. Being an (a?)typical "hoomon", I could've scrolled by too quickly and missed them. <*sigh*>. The ultimate CPE problem.
Thinking about it, I tend too watch for the point releases in there own announcements. Bad habit I guess.
Cheers,
Ralph

I don't even have any hits in my logs on that date, and I rechecked my filters. I have Centos 4 in i686 and x86_64 and CentOS 5 in the same arches.
Maybe it only fell under the General CentOS 4 filter and didn't trickle out to the individual arches.

That's exactly what I tried to say - no it does not fall under those filters. But there is an option to turn that on (but I cannot find my password at the moment).

I have the following enabled (x) and proposed (p);
CentOS-3 i386 (Details) CentOS-3 x86_64 (Details) CentOS-3 ia64 (Details) CentOS-3 s390 (Details) CentOS-3 s390x (Details) CentOS-3 (Details) p CentOS-4 (Details) x CentOS-4 i386 (Details) CentOS-4 ia64 (Details) x CentOS-4 x86_64 (Details) CentOS-2 (Details) CentOS-4 Alpha (Details) p CentOS-5 (Details) x CentOS-5 i386 (Details) x CentOS-5 x86_64 (Details)
I'm hoping I get general announcements, but not everything in that version by the (p)roposed settings.
from looking at the regexs for the subscriptions, i can see that the announcement would not be caught by any of the arch specific subscriptions. so that explains why i (and probably others) didn't see it. mystery solved.

I also assume all blame for my loss.
I rectified my filter choices for next time.

You're not alone.
I didn't receive the email either. I have also checked my subscriptions, and CentOS 4 is one of them.

Do you want to receive messages that do not match any topic filter?
Setting that to yes should get you those messages. Could be that the "4.7" fell through the filter for CentOS 4.

Ralph
