Hello, could someone (some mirror) please provide DVD isos of the Centos5 also via ftp/http. The bittorent ports on out network are blocked and at the moment I couldn't find any DVD isos for "regular" download. Thanks, Gernot
Try ftp://ftp.net.usf.edu/pub/centos/5.0/isos/i386/ or http://mirror.chpc.utah.edu/pub/centos/5.0/isos/i386/CentOS-5.0-i386-bin-DVD...

for future reference, any reasonable client should be able to configure the port numbers.

danno for your reference not all ISP's are reasonable. I have a number of clients on "Managed Networks" who have no control over their ports. You should be more tolerant and open to others problems

It seems to me that it's not reasonable to mess around with a business' firewall to use BT, even where that business wants/needs CentOS.
Other distros do create downloadable DVD-sized ISOs.

As does CentOS - and http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/isos/ will redirect you to a local list of mirrors when you click on an architecture , highlighting those that have dvd isos.
as in http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/5/isos/i386/
Mirrors that carry dvd iso images are also highlighted at
http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=13

Sorry for the late followup - but i meant the bittorrent client should be configurable to use different port numbers.
as to whether it's reasonable or possible or useful to configure a firewall for an application that a business needs/wants to use, i have opinions but also understand reality.

Hi, I've got the same concern, i've got bittorrent blocked and can't get to it. I've been looking over the various mirrors for the dvd iso for centos5 and haven't found it. If anyone has an http mirror or ftp mirror with the complete dvd iso i'd appreciate knowing about it. Thanks. Dave.

This is a fairly easy task. And to help in teaching I will not post the direct links but some steps to find them:
1) Browse to http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=13 Which can be accessed from www.centos.org 2) Look at the column titled "Direct DVD Downloads"...you are only interested in those that say yes 3) For one that says yes check to make sure it contains the version/architecture you need. 4) Click on either the http link of ftp link (ftp is probably preferred) 6) Click on 5/ 7) Click on dvd-isos 8) Download the iso you need

my employer blocks torrent, but allows ssh, so I ssh to a shell box outside, and run a cTorrent client there, let it run to completion, then scp or ftp the file from said server to work. its an extra step, but not really that unreasonable.
if the shell box is someone else's and/or has network bandwidth constraints, do be sure to tell ctorrent to throttle up and downlink to something acceptable...
