Are you sure you didn't just burn the iso to dvd? Pop it into your drive and if you only see the .iso file that's what you did.

Hi all;
I downloaded the centos 4.3 image onto my linux box and used k3b to burn a DVD iso
image. It seemed to work fine.
I have an SuSE laptop and I want to setup a CentOS VM via Vmware 5.5 If I insert the dvd and boot the new vm I get 'no operating system found' It seems
to be a non-bootable dvd. Is there something additional I need to do when burning the dvd image to make it bootable?

Check the BIOS of the virtual machine to make sure that it is actually trying to boot from the DVD ROM and not from some other device (a newly created virtual disk, for example).
