What driver i must create SMP or not and what is the difference

To build UP module, type: make -f Makefile.rh The file created is 3w-9xxx.o

To build SMP module, type: make smp -f Makefile.rh The file created is 3w-9xxx.smp

And what i must put in to initial the ramdisk on CentOS.

Redhat from the site above /sbin/mkinitrd -v -f /boot/init-2.4.21-4.EL.img init-2.4.21-4.EL

Cent OS ??? /sbin/mkinitrd -v -f /boot/2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp vmlinuz-2.4.21-27.0.2.Elsmp

My kernelversion is root@server8 [/boot]# uname -r 2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp

And on this site http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=12706 stay that the drivers will not work with centos. But i don´t understand WHY. Redhat and Centos has the same architecture or not?

Maybe anyone can told me what i must do now :) I am very confused.
