the dell sc420 is a poweredge tower. So in this case I wont have to "worry" about the laptop LCD not matching the DB15.

I am wondering what he is trying to do with this server machine? It only has like an 8meg video chip so using it as a workstation is questionable.

Then get out your LCD manual and put in the _exact_ Horizontal Frequency and Vertical Refresh rates for it into your Xorg.conf.
