ok now i bought an IBM xSeries 206 but my problem is the hard drive can't be detected. I tried surfing for drivers for SATA and i found one for RHEL 3 can this driver works for CentOS 4.2?

It's not the sata drivers you need so much as the drivers for the controller card. Without knowing the specifics of the hardware you've got, best I can do is point you here -> http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?doccategoryind=0&t...

I have a 206 too, but opted using Linux software raid. Can you rebuild the raid in hot? Like the software raid1 in Linux?
