I've been being told, over and over, by K3B, Brasero, and Isomaster, on two machines, with three different downloads of 6.0, that the file is too large for the medium. What is going wrong??

You are not supposed to burn FILES on the DVD, you now that right? You are supposed to use "Burn DVD ISO Image" in K3B or similar in other burner apps.

Making images that are this close to capacity should be seen as a mistake and hopefully the same will not be made with the 6.1 release. It is extremely easy to predict that this will cause problems for people, so why invite such issues with something as simple as ISO burning?

I'm just scrambling to collect clues to build an Amazon AWS AMI based on Centos 6. the AWS PV-GRUB kernel loads my kernel but failed immediately. I'm using stock Centos 6 kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6. and the kernel seems have xen? support? My questions are:
1, Are the centos 6 stock kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
2, If the answer to the above #1 question is NO, the are the centos plus kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
3, If the answers to both above are 'NO', then Are there any instructions to build a EC2 kernel based on kernel source RPMs?
Any help are greatly appreciated.

I'm just scrambling to collect clues to build an Amazon AWS AMI based on Centos 6. the AWS PV-GRUB kernel loads my kernel but failed immediately. I'm using stock Centos 6 kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6. and the kernel seems have xen? support? My questions are:
1, Are the centos 6 stock kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
2, If the answer to the above #1 question is NO, the are the centos plus kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
3, If the answers to both above are 'NO', then Are there any instructions to build a EC2 kernel based on kernel source RPMs?
Any help are greatly appreciated.

FUNNY you should mention that... I literally ran into that yesterday, with lots of screaming and yelling. This will sound scary, but isn't: try reinstalling, but when you get to the screen that asks you what you want to do, select the radio button for "upgrade", which says it does *not* format the partition(s). I did that - I had rsync'd / and /boot from another server, identical, with Linux software RAID. Bad mistake - best guess is there are some magic numbers in initrd - so I did this. It only took a couple of minutes, and seemed to not do much more than reinstall grub and some post-install scripts, and everything was wonderful.

No, I wasn't using a command line, because I couldn't get the sucker to boot, even though when I did what it told me to do on panic - add rdshell to the kernel line before booting - I could manually assemble the RAIDs, but then it wouldn't mount.
I *literally* started an install (I had a PXEboot one available) with no ks file. About three or four screens in, it presented me with a set of options to install (wipe everything), or... forget what the second option was, and the third was "upgrade", and it showed a dropdown list (which, for me, only had one entry) of the one I'd installed. I chose that, and then clicked for go, and from that point, it was literally about two minutes, and it installed grub, then did some post-install scripts of its own, and told me it was time to reboot.

Finally got it work! hew......
The last part which makes the difference is change the /dev/sda1 to /dev/xvde1 in files /boot/grub/menu.lst and /etc/fstab. the file system type set to 'ext2' (from ext3) for /dev/xvde1 as well -- this is a S3 backed AMI image. There is no need to re-create initial ramdisk if you use the newest kernel 2.6.32-131.17.1.el6.x86_64 from cr/ depository, all xen block&net modules seems already included -- please someone double check it to comfirm/deny, I'm just too tired now.

It only took a couple of minutes, and seemed to not do much more than reinstall grub and some post-install scripts, and everything was wonderful.

ldapsearch -x -ZZ works fine on clients, when the server side slapd.conf has 'TLSVerifyClient' is set to 'try'. But after I changed that the 'demand' all clients' "ldapsearch -x -ZZ" command fails immediately. I run the 'slapd -d3' at server side too.
It looks like maybe 'ldapsearch -x -zz' didn't send out client certificates, even though it should with '-ZZ' options -- from ldap.conf manual?
My client side /etc/openldap/ldap.conf is like below:

I'm just scrambling to collect clues to build an Amazon AWS
AMI based on Centos 6. the AWS PV-GRUB kernel loads my kernel but failed immediately. I'm using stock Centos 6 kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6. and the kernel seems have xen? support? My questions are:
1, Are the centos 6 stock kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
2, If the answer to the above #1 question is NO, the are the centos plus kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
3, If the answers to both above are 'NO', then Are there any instructions to build a EC2 kernel based on kernel source RPMs?
Any help are greatly appreciated.

Found the problem and solved.
I accidently copied the file /etc/openldap/ldap.conf accidently to under /root account as .ldaprc file and immediately the problem goes away. Read manual again and found that the tls_cert and tls_key are USER_ONLY option!
So now the problem goes away, and sure I'lll change the TLSVerifyClient option back to 'try'. It is of no immediate uses if TLS client authentication is only user-option.

AMI based on Centos 6. the AWS PV-GRUB kernel loads my kernel but failed immediately. I'm using stock Centos 6 kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6. and the kernel seems have xen? support? My questions are:
1, Are the centos 6 stock kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
2, If the answer to the above #1 question is NO, the are the centos plus kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
3, If the answers to both above are 'NO', then Are there any instructions to build a EC2 kernel based on kernel source RPMs?

Can't speak with certainty about CentOS6 but assuming that it is using sssd somewhat like Fedora you need to concentrate on /etc/sssd/sssd.conf and include ldap_tls_reqcert = never
Note that sssd essentially takes the place of padl tools (/etc/ldap.conf)
Also note that /etc/openldap/ldap.conf is only for openldap cli client tools such as ldapsearch/ldapmodify/etc.
That's why /root/.ldaprc sort of works for you but it is much more logical/consistent to configure sssd.conf properly because that is where daemons should be looking for system configuration information.

I accidently copied the file /etc/openldap/ldap.conf accidently to under /root account as .ldaprc file and immediately the problem goes away. Read manual again and found that the tls_cert and tls_key are USER_ONLY option!
So now the problem goes away, and sure I'lll change the TLSVerifyClient option back to 'try'. It is of no immediate uses if TLS client authentication is only user-option.

I'm just scrambling to collect clues to build an Amazon AWS
AMI based on Centos 6. the AWS PV-GRUB kernel loads my kernel but failed immediately. I'm using stock Centos 6 kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6. and the kernel seems have xen? support? My questions are:
1, Are the centos 6 stock kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
2, If the answer to the above #1 question is NO, the are the centos plus kernels, like kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64, EC2 compatible?
3, If the answers to both above are 'NO', then Are there any instructions to build a EC2 kernel based on kernel source RPMs?
Any help are greatly appreciated.

Given that at least one of the mentioned utilities, Isomaster, is expressly created for the purpose of burning ISO images, I'd say the first comment is uncalled for.
The release notes state: The i386 DVD is just a bit too large to fit on normal single layer DVD+R media. It can be burnt successfully on DVD-R or dual-layer media.
Making images that are this close to capacity should be seen as a mistake and hopefully the same will not be made with the 6.1 release. It is extremely easy to predict that this will cause problems for people, so why invite such issues with something as simple as ISO burning?

Can't say, it was all I got. Anybody I can remember, who had problems with CentOS ISO burning, solved it with those two advice's. I had zero problems with 4-5 burns.
Only thing you haven't mentioned is DVD media. The last "helpful" advice I can offer is to try different DVD media manufacturer.

The whole gigabyte vs. gibibyte argument again! According to IEEE, NIST, and bunch of other organizations, a gigabyte is 1,000,000,000 bytes, and a gibibyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes. I can't wait until we start dealing with yobibytes!!
