I learned from the Centos-devel email list that they aren't sending out email to centos-announce for updates to CentOS 8, but only updating an RSS feed.
I think this is a bad idea since no one uses RSS anymore (ducks for cover). What do others here think of this?

I usually rely on this list for all things CentOS, so I'd certainly prefer to see updates for all active CentOS releases published to this list.

+1
Not having critical updates announced on this list is akin disaster for me.
Frankly I prefer RSS feeds for notices and news type items that are noninteractive unlike this support email list where issues can be aired among like minded individuals.
Good day;

I looked all over the CentOS site for the RSS link and could not find it. I would subscribe to it, if I could.

That *really* should be in the listing of sites under News & Events on the main centos.org page since it isn't in the header or footer of the site like most do.

No, please read that thread again, as nobody said it would replace it, but feeds.centos.org was already there for quite some time, and people can pick the solution they want :-)
In the same thread, it was said that if someone could help Johnny figuring out how to produce mail for CentOS 8/Stream with valuable informations, reach out to him (don't know myself what are the technical problems/concerns so can't help with that)
Cheers,
