Hey Y'all,
I just installed the updates recommended by Software Update.
Apr 25 19:04:43 Updated: xulrunner-10.0.4-1.el6.centos.i686 Apr 25 19:04:53 Updated: firefox-10.0.4-1.el6.centos.i686 Apr 25 19:05:03 Updated: thunderbird-10.0.4-1.el6.centos.i686 Apr 25 19:05:05 Updated: matahari-lib-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:06 Updated: matahari-agent-lib-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:09 Updated: matahari-broker-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:10 Updated: matahari-network-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:11 Updated: matahari-sysconfig-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:12 Updated: matahari-service-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:13 Updated: matahari-host-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:14 Updated: 2:libpng-1.2.49-1.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:17 Updated: openssl-1.0.0-20.el6_2.4.i686 Apr 25 19:05:21 Updated: openssl-devel-1.0.0-20.el6_2.4.i686 Apr 25 19:05:22 Updated: 2:libpng-devel-1.2.49-1.el6_2.i686 Apr 25 19:05:23 Updated: matahari-0.4.4-12.el6_2.i686
I also installed Virtual Box. Apr 25 19:23:55 Installed: VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.12_77245_rhel6-1.i686
Now open office will not start. It complains about not being able to load a library.
The application cannot be started. loading component library failed: file:///usr/lib/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/program/i18npool.uno.so
I checked for the existence of i18npool.uno.so in the directory indicated. It is there.
1. Has anyone else experienced any problems with the latest software update?
2. What course of action would you recommend to restore the operation of openoffice.org?

Mark, what rpm provides i18npool.uno.so via
yum whatprovides */i18npool.uno.so
this gives on my system 1:openoffice.org-core-3.2.1-19.6.el6_0.5.x86_64 : Core modules for : OpenOffice.org Repo : base Matched from: Filename : /usr/lib64/openoffice.org/basis3.2/program/i18npool.uno.so
then you can verify if this file matches that provided in the original .rpm
man rpm gives instruction.
Maybe you have multiple rpm that have such a file??

Thank you for taking the time to try to help. I really appreciate it.
I didn't change anything, as far as I know, and now it's working. WTF? I love it when that happens. It's so much easier than having to fix it.
Here's what I got from yum whatprovides */i18npool.uno.so:
1:openoffice.org-core-3.2.1-19.6.el6_0.5.i686 : Core modules for OpenOffice.org Repo : base Matched from: Filename : /usr/lib/openoffice.org/basis3.2/program/i18npool.uno.so
VirtualBox didn't work last night either. I didn't find that surprising. I haven't had opportunity to try it tonight but I'm not expecting much. The trouble shooting documentation said that I would find a clue as to why in the log file but apparently it ran perfectly up until it crashed. ;-)

Wait a minute. I didn't change anything, as far as I know, and now it's working. WTF??? I love it when this happens. It's so much easier that having to fix it yourself.
Even my email to the list wasn't getting through last night. I thought I may have sent it to the wrong mail list again, I've done that before, so I sent it again. Now that's working too. That would explain why that are two copies of the email on the list. Way cool.
VirtualBox, that I installed last night, wasn't working right either, but I'm not surprised at that. I haven't tried it tonight but I expect that it still won't work. The trouble shooting guide said I would find a clue in the log file but there was nothing there. It appears that it runs just fine, according to the log file, until it crashes.
Some time ago I wrote to ask about who was maintaining the Stellarium RPM file. I solved the problem with that by downloading the source and building it myself. Thanks again to the list for helping me contact the file maintainer.
