Hi
I have got 8 Sun x4100's and i have got the following on there
Linux xxxxxx04 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Jun 30 10:32:04 EDT 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have found an issue where every hour the load rises to 1 sits there for nearly an hour and then drops to 0 again (these boxes are not currently being used)
Has anyone seen this before or know perhaps why this may happen? When the load is high there is nothing showing in a top that may suggest a reason.
thanks

First thing to do is look in /etc/cron.hourly/ (and /etc/cron.d/ ) to see what is running when it starts:
also a "ps -efm" might show threads not in top.
