We use LVM on all our RH9 setups at work. No problems at all.
OTOH, LVM2 is a work in progress that RH chose to pass along. I keep hearing rumors that the support may be more complete in Update 1 whenever that comes along.

The problem with LVM2 is this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=156673
