I am install Centos5 on a Dell Latitude D610. I have a radeon X300, it works but it does not do the 3D hardware acceleration.
Any suggestion?

Though I'm wondering if the X300 shouldn't work with the reverse engineered drivers in Xorg.
The fglrx drivers won't work with compiz (just as a warning).

I downloaded and tried to install the ATI driver from ati.amd.com. The problem is that it does not support RHEL5. It only supports RHEL4 or FC6. I have tried both build, and it still does not work.
The xorg driver works but it's very jerky.
Any suggestion?

I saw that, but it's dated: HardwareList/AtiDriver (last edited 2006-07-16 19:10:00), so I thought that this for the 4.x.

Most of it probably is. The part that you want is regarding the ATI proprietary driver.
