Below is my firewall rules for iptables. everything is working fine except for NFS I cannot mount my drive.
If I turn off iptables I can mount.

In order for NFS to work with a default installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux with a firewall enabled, IPTables with the default TCP port 2049 must be configured. Without proper IPTables configuration, NFS does not function properly.
The NFS initialization script and rpc.nfsd process now allow binding to any specified port during system start up. However, this can be error prone if the port is unavailable or conflicts with another daemon.
I have port 2049 listed in my iptables.
Is there a reason I cannot mount? thanks,

you also need to add portmapper ( port 110 ) and lock the following ports preventing portmapper to assign random ports
Uncomment the following in /etc/sysconfig/nfs and make sure the portmapper is restarted.
RQUOTAD_PORT=875 LOCKD_TCPPORT=32803 LOCKD_UDPPORT=32769 MOUNTD_PORT=892 STATD_PORT=662
Choose ports as you like and add them in the firewall.

You need to also allow access to daemons such as rpc.mountd, rpc.lockd and rpc.statd, but the problem is that by default those are in random TCP ports. They can be fixed with configuration in /etc/sysconfig/nfs.
This is the /etc/sysconfig/nfs I am using on an NFS server behind firewall:
LOCKD_TCPPORT=2050 LOCKD_UDPPORT=2050 RQUOTAD_PORT=2051 MOUNTD_PORT=2052 STATD_PORT=2053 STATD_OUTGOING_PORT=2054
And then my iptables rules:
iptables -A FORWARD ... -p tcp -m multiport --dports 111,2049:2054 iptables -A FORWARD ... -p udp -m multiport --dports 111,2049:2054
It works well for me.
I believe some of those (like STATD_OUTGOING_PORT) should really be set on the client, so I'm not 100% sure that this is the exact configuration you need, but as I said, it works for me, so I'm fine with it.

actually I just needed to restart portmap. THe /etc/sysconfig/nfs only had

it's true for nfsv4 only, you may have to force nfsv4 at mount time to use this setup. If you're using nfsv3 you've multiple ports to open on your firewall which is painfull
