In case anybody is interested, I found a version of Yumex that will work with CentOS 4.2. It is from another RHEL clone, Scientific Linux. This is the URL.

I have built and run that version of yumex (0.42-9.0) as well on CentOS-4 ... but it does not work with yum plugins (at least not protectbase). I have not released it for CentOS as I know several people are using yum plugins.
I tried to build the latest version of yumex (0.45-1.0), but it did not work correctly with the version of yum currently in centos.
a while back there was a link mentioned about getting started in making a web server , does anyone know this link? Russ

Not sure which one you mean, but this is a really nice guide for setting up a small server with Fedora Core 3 and should therefore be pretty close for CentOS:
