Hi,
The HPLIP package included in CentOS 5 is one of those packages that lags almost pathologically behind. Now I remember having seen some *official* (HP) documentation describing the procedure to follow to install the *latest* HPLIP on CentOS 5. As far as I can remember, there were even some RHEL5 RPMS on that site.
But I can't seem to find that page anymore. Anyone remembers it?

I'll answer that myself, since I just found it. You just have to jump through several burning loops on the website in order to access it:
